If I am ever stuck for something cheap to do with the kids Kingston Lacy is always first on the list. We are National Trust members, so entry is free. There are lots of walks to choose from, long and short. There is a lovely café, a small woodland kids area, lots of woodland trials and a mini tractor play are. Animals to see and feed. Perfect

What a pleasant day out on a sunny day to have a cup of tea and Rome around the gardens. With its lovely walks and scenic views I couldn't think of a better way to spend a day

We went here in December when the house was advertised as closed. Thankfully the lovely staff had opened the normally unseen staff areas of the house and decorated them for Christmas and they looked beautiful! They'd also all cooked the old staff Christmas Treat recipes found in the house itself and you could try the results. The mixed spice biscuits and the petticoat shortbread were lovely!
Beautiful gardens, although some of it was fenced off while we were there for the cutting down of some unsafe trees. Chatting with the staff/volunteers in the garden and house they were all so knowledgeable and enthusiastic it was inspiring.
If you have children it's worth doing the walk down to the kitchen gardens as they have some lovely little pigs there, and turkeys etc along with a bird of prey nesting box camera.
Can't wait to go back when the full house is open to see the rest!

I spent a very relaxing afternoon there. Now I know I should have allocated a longer time for this outing as there was so much to see and do.

Kingston Lacy is one of the National Trust's crown jewels. The extensive grounds including parkland, woodland and walled gardens are attractive any time of year, there is always something to see. The house is full of fascinating things from furniture, paintings and works of art to the keys for Corfe Castle. There are excellent facilities for eating and a enjoyable shop to browse.
