Met some friends here recently for a meal and was not disappointed! Considering both the garden and inside were full, the food, and service were excellent. I had the lasagne which was cooked perfectly, yes there was a bit of a wait (45mins) but we completely understood this considering the amount of people. I would thoroughly recommend this pub! We'll done guys, keep up the good work!

Thank Gina L

Took our guests to this pub as we had had a decent meal here before, just wanted a light-ish lunch. Light being the operative word.
We ordered 4 burgers and according to the menu they were served with chips, salad, mayo and dish of relish,
If you took all of the tomato and all of the lettuce from all 4 burgers (inside the buns) it wouldn't have made a whole tomato or lettuce leaf, no Mayo, and a small paper pot of relish!!!!
Complained to the waiter who said the salad was only a garnish and proceeded to bring us two hot bowls of diced old lettuce, didn't get the mayo.
If only these places would realise that attention to presentation makes even the dullest meal look nice, and the meal should reflect what the menu says,on this occasion this place failed on all
counts. Will definitely not recommend or return, don't waste your money.

As a regular for 5 or so years, after a 6 month break we went to dinner last night with another couple. Very limited menu, price increases, woeful portions, terrible table service (mains came out and starter plates not cleared away, not enough cutlery and crockery) and, oddly, no one came to ask if we wanted desserts. Glasses were not cleared away, even though they weren't busy! Such a shame as it is a lovely setting for a catch up with old friends. Will give it a go at the end of the year again. Here's hoping for a marked improvement.

We visited this pub for a celebration lunch with 12 family members and wished we'd gone elsewhere. The menu was much reduced compared to their website version. 4 people ordered rump steak but they had already run out - it was 12 noon and only 4 other tables occupied. They then ordered sirloin which was grey and tough. We enquired about lasagne and they managed to find 2 portions for us. The sauce was a dark brown colour and it tasted very like a shepherds pie with sheets of lasagne and not nice. The staff were pleasant but not enough of them as the pub filled up. We had to wait quite a while for our meal which we were OK with, but it then unfortunately came out in dribs and drabs which left some of the younger members (the hungriest) still waiting after others had finished. Unfortunately, none of us could say we enjoyed our food. It was a disappointing lunch and not the celebration we had planned.

Over lunchtime on Friday 22 August 2014, the beginning of bank holiday weekend there were 1 or 2 bar staff taking food orders, serving drinks and making coffee. If you wish to experience extremely slow service and to be insulted by the staff (in particular Mac the Assistant Duty Manager) when you make a reasonable query about the service and then to be refused service then this is the pub for you. Otherwise keep well away and find one which values it's customers.
