“Lovely weekend lunch!”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

We dropped in here for a spur of the moment lunch and were really impressed with the friendly welcome and pleasant, spacious surroundings. The atmosphere was busy but we didn't feel rushed and the lunch menu proved to be really tasty and very good value. We ordered a mix of pizzas and pasta dishes and all were freshly cooked and perfect for a casual Saturday lunch. We were well looked after by the friendly staff - and I would recommend the Highlander pizza, I'm doubtful it's an authentic Italian choice but with smoked salmon and capers it really was gorgeous! We will definitely return and look forward to coming back when the open air part of the restaurant is available in better weather. A really good find in Wimborne.

“Amazing!!”

Real Italian food, great friendly atmosphere and its not expensive! The decor is very nice and welcoming and I believe they are putting in an open roof section as well! All round, it is amazing!

“Not very good food!”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

We had just got back from holiday and decided on Italian. We tried to get in to Toppo Giggio in Wimborne but they were full so we went to Picolo Mondo. They were also busy but managed to squeeze us in. I have no problem with the friendly staff or the decor of this restaurant, it is the food that I have an issue with. My wife ordered Seafood linguini. It contained three mussels a few tiny shrimps, tinned tuna! and chopped crab sticks! Really if they cannot put a seafood mix together with proper ingredients then remove it from the menu. I had the meatballs with penne and although they were made from very solid meat, they were a bit tasteless. The pizza bread for the garlic bread was a bit like Sunblest bread! I also noticed that they have no draught beer and all the drinks were being poured from cans behind the bar! We did not have a dessert but suffice to say the menu was one of those that had photos of bought in desserts similar to a curry restaurant. Although this is not an expensive restaurant it is still not worth the money. We will not be returning!

“Warm friendly great Italian food”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

This is our favourite place to eat in Wimborne. Family run business gives a warm welcoming atmosphere where staff go out of their way to look after you and make your evening thoroughly enjoyable. Love the speciality Picolo Mondo Chilli Oil and Maurice's own secret ingredients in their oil drizzled on the Siciliana Pizza is superb. Nice to taste and enjoy all the complementing flavours and lashings of black pepper and Parmesan always available.

It's like our second home where we can unwind relax and not feel over managed or rushed to leave. Recommended

“What a jewel!”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

I and a friend were off to see a show at The Tivoli Theatre. My friend got quite lost trying to find me in our arranged location, as we are both not very familiar with the lovely town of Wimborne, she was over half an hour late. We had decided to meat for dinner before the show, which started at 7.30. Once we had found each other, we started walking around Wimborne to find somewhere to eat. as time was getting on we spotted a pub with a food board out side, and went in. We ordered a drink then asked for the menu, only to be told they were no longer serving food.So we rushed down our drinks and went in search of of food. we found Piccolo Mondo at 7pm, and what a warm welcome we received We explained we only had 20 minutes, to order, eat and go, and would this possible, we were told, very reassuringly it would be. So we each chose a pizza and waited for it arrive. The restaurant has a lovely, warm and friendly feeling about it, and I love the decor. The waitress was so helpful, and when the pizzas arrived, they looked so fresh and soft and welcoming, to a couple of very hungry and slightly stressed diners. It was one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. The lovely chef came out to see us, as we were paying the bill, saying the Tivoli had called him to say they were shut for evening, so we could stay longer for a desert! So funny and charming. A place I can't wait to go back to and have a much more leisurely meal. Highly recommended!
PS.. we made curtain up with a few seconds to spare!!!
