I dont get this place it has the best location, a beautiful building and in the heart of Wimborne,. But the worst staff, i have ever seen. I went here today to have a meal. The staff were arguing, and unprofessional and not fit for a hotel in the centre of Wimborne. Who ever employed them, needs a talking to.There is no excuse for the behaviour of the staff, i was embarrassed and left totally disgusted. This is not the first time i have witnessed such poor standards at the hotel. Somebody needs to get a grip on this issue. Whilst i cant understand it, i go to the fox and hounds another greene king pub locally and it is quite the opposite. The staff are attentive, working as a team and a credit to the company.I doubt nothing will be done about the situation as the place has a sense of nobody caring.

Room Tip: Avoid This place, if you can . Cant think of anything positive

We stayed here for just one night as we were visiting the local town theatre. The staff were very efficient on arrival and we were showed to our room and advised to order dinner by 6pm to give us time to get to the theatre. The room was a little "shabby" but this may be down to the fact that the hotel was under refurbishment. We had large damp patches on the ceiling and in the bathroom along with other fixings missing and holes in the walls when they should have been. As we arrived around 5pm we didn't make any comment at the time as we wanted to ensure we got to the theatre on time. Unfortunately I think everyman and his dog decided to eat in the "restaurant" before the show. We had to wait 45 mins for a simple main dish . On the plus side the breakfast was well prepared and had a good variety of choice. We mentioned the problems to the desk on the way out and they gave us the HO details. A swift email with pics attached of the problems resulted in a letter of apology and £40 of Greene King Vouchers. The setting is good and we hope to return to see if the "refurb" has been succesful.

Room Tip: Some rooms over look the town square which is very noisy at night .. Ask for a room not overlooking...

I had always wanted to stay at the Kings Head, but the old reviews did put me off. Now refurbishment has taken place, decided to try it. Have to say really delighted by what we found. The receptionist gave us a great welcome, and the room (superior type) was great. So much space, lovely décor, but most of all, absolutely immaculate. Side street view of the Abbey. Breakfasts were good, however, due to the Christmas parties of the weekend, service was a little slow, and indeed made up our own table on the Sunday as tables were not being cleared. Cannot blame the waiting staff, they were so friendly and were trying their best, but more the lack of leadership/management, and no systems in place. This said, a complimentary bottle of wine with our meal on the Sunday evening did go some way to making up for the breakfast failings. The meal and the dining area were first class, and although busy with Christmas parties, our service was spot on. Would definitely stay again. Lovely situation in a splendid little town with a good range of individual shops.

Room Tip: The superior type room does offer plenty of space with a sofa seating area if staying for more than...

Avoid the restaurant unless you want to be sprayed by a bleach can. I can assure you its a great way to get you to leave your table. It could be that the hotel is currently being staffed by management trainees - we recommend you avoid this hotel until the reviews hit rock bottom and they have to do something. It has to get better. There are much better places to stay in Wimborne now and they will suffer due to the new competition such as The Minster Arms and Number Nine and even the Albion when they reopen. Please don't waste your hard earned money. Look around and find somewhere which understands the meaning of customer service.

We required accommodation for just one night to see a show at the Tivoli Theatre and could only find a standard room at The Kings Head, a town centre 'pub' so thought we would have to 'slum it'.

So far from the truth! Yes, it is right in the centre of the town, but it is an impressive 28 bedroom inn, recently renovated, with the advantage of an enclosed car park. Our "standard" room was comfortable, spacious and superb, better than some superior rooms we have known. All the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. There is a large bar that is very busy in the evenings but without loud music.

Wimborne Minster is a very pleasant town to visit and the theatre stages some good acts, we will definitely return to The King's Head.
