My husband and I, together with a friend, spent two nights at Marlagh Lodge in May. Ballymena is the perfect location for touring the Northern coast of Ireland and Marlagh Lodge was a great choice.. Robert and Rachel couldn't have been more welcoming and charming and their beautifully restored home is gorgeous. We both had very spacious rooms with comfy beds and large modern bathrooms. What an experience to stay in a house of this era. Breakfasts were delicious and based on that I would hightly recomend booking dinner there too. Rachel is an accomplished cook - check out her dinner menu on their website - and next time we would very definitely stay in for dinner!

We arrived following a long drive, and were warmly welcomed, shown our room [of that later] and served very welcome cup of tea, homemade shortbread biscuits and fudge, served in a most elegant, well proportioned and beautifully furnished drawing room. Our room [The chintz bedroom], was spacious, & included a sitting area, a most comfortable bed with luxurious bed linen, and the best 'tea and coffee' making facilities ever. The bathroom [shower only, but a superb efficient shower], complete with fluffy dressing gowns and the choicest array of bath and shower products complemented this delightful room.
Dinner is served at 8.00pm and is a set menu, following drinks in the drawing room [no worries about being served something you don't care for, as Rachel asks at the time of your booking for any foods to be avoided]. The food can only be described as quite excellent - every course was delicious and beautifully presented . Five courses [six counting coffee and fudge]
Breakfast was equally yummy - the spiced apricots, the scrambled egg come highly recommended !!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!
