By far one of the nicest places i have stayed! Lovely bar where we had a few drinks after checking in, our room was lovely and staff so genuine and friendly could not have asked for better service. We had dinner in the restaurant that night and can honestly say it was one of the best meals i have ever had, cannot rate this hotel enough! Only downside is not much to do in Crawfordsburn itself however Bangor and Belfast are close enough for this not to matter.

Everything about this old inn is superb staff are very friendly while professional and so polite, food is fantastic you could over indulge very quickly. The welcome entrance with the log fire burning is great and the outside area again with fire burning is so good, this old inn will be 400 yrs old next year, this place is must visit for anyone coming to n.ireland a great place to stay but even if you are not it is well worth a visit for bar food, evening meal or even a good pint of the black stuff. DONT MISS OUT.

I do not often write reviews but feel after reading a few of the below that I should.

My wife purchased a Living Social voucher for me as a gift for a well over-due promotion at work and I have to say we were blown away.

The staff could not have been more helpful. The care and attention given to us both was amazing. I have had afternoon tea several times at many hotels in and around the area and have definitely found my new favourite.

Our bedroom was great and we even got a show round of some of the other rooms which where each as individual as a fingerprint and each a little pocket of luxury. An early evening in the garden with a few drinks as the sun went down over Crawfordsburn Country Park, it was easy to see what inspired C.S. Lewis all those years ago.

We can read, so we booked our stay in time and have already booked our next stay, Can't Wait.

This hotel is a hidden jewel and should be experienced without pause. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but it would seem that some people just expect the world to revolve around them.

Dear pgtips2013, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor, and congratulations on your recent promotion! We were delighted to see that you enjoyed your recent stay with us on a Living Social promotion. Thank you also for your kind words on our afternoon tea, we have been working particularly hard on this service and are currently fine tuning our changes as we turn into the colder months. You appear to have caught the last of the sun for this year! We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Please do check our website for the next great deal. Kind regards, the team at The Old Inn.

We stayed here for one night at the end of July for a wedding. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the day. Garden area is very nice and includes an open fire and comfy seating area which were lovely.
We were given the disabled room which is on the ground floor through the library. Although it was strange to know there could be people sitting right outside your room at any time, the room was spacious and clean. Saying that, we did prefer other rooms that we saw, all of which vary in design and size which gives the place a more homely feel. The rooms weren't particularly modern but that added to the charm.
Only a short taxi ride to Belfast city centre and George Best Airport.
If you like, you can take a short walk to the coast through the forest behind the hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very different from each other. We had the disabled suite (through the library - a...

Dear Matt C, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. We were delighted to see that you enjoyed your recent stay with us.Thank you for your kind words on the presentation of the hotel, our garden pavilion was painstakingly designed to reflect the atmosphere of the inside of the hotel, which is one the reasons why it houses a real fire. Thank you also for the kind words on our staff, we have been assessing our training needs at all levels and are currently mid way through a year long assessments of mystery shops that we are finding very interesting. As you correctly out, and well spotted, all of our bedrooms are individually styled in a manner befitting an inn approaching 400 years next year. We save the more contemporary touches for the bathrooms such as heated towel rails, all white and chrome detailing and power showers. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Kind regards, the team at The Old Inn.

Stayed here for one night having dinner. Hotel is charming, having been founded in 1641. The thatched roof on the oldest part of the building adds to the charm. The bar and restaurant are well appointed, with the later having recently been redesigned. Dinner was very good, scallops and crackling on starter list being especially good. Service was very good and efficient with all staff, including the owner, being on hand to make us feel most welcome. Outdoor garden complete with covered area, with a warming fire, provides a tranquil area to relax. The nearby forest park, complete with waterfall affords the visitor with a chance to have a stroll down to Belfast Lough shore. Well worth a visit.

Have been attending Christmas Lunches etc and meeting up with friends/business at their premises for years and found the food and surroundings excellent .
BUT
Had bought a deal through Living Social website for £99 back in June and intended to use next week for our 26th wedding anniversary before the expiry date of 17th Sept but in the small print I had to book by 31st July.
Had overlooked booking the place but now Told by the The Old Inn I can't book it and they just are keeping my hard earned 99 quid . No compromise of ANY KIND offered , just keerchin on their behalf .
So I have to come to my own doorstep in the world to be treated with absolute contempt when it comes to tourism .
Over the years other vouchers/bookings have almost lapsed or had to be changed but decent hotels have had the courtesy to re-issue and shown keeness to want you you to stay.

Dear Mealiff, reference your recent Tripadvisor review ‘Downright unhelpful and unco-operative.’ Our living social promotion was a highly successful campaign directed at periods in the year where our accommodation needed support and as such did have few caveats built in. However, our terms and conditions are laid out clearly and to infer that any of these small conditions were ‘small print’ is simply untrue. In exceptional circumstances we have bent over backwards to extend vouchers due to illness or accident, but this was not the case here. Due to the length of time taken to make the reservation the dead line had not just slipped by, by a day or two, or even a week or two but by almost a month. You will notice from previous responses from the team that when we occasionally drop the ball, we will put our hands up and apologise and try very hard to put things right. On this occasion, we feel that we have conducted our business properly and feel that to have our decency called into question in such a public forum to be totally unacceptable and unjustified. Kind regards, the team at The Old Inn.

Our first trip to Ireland was made very special by staying in this fabulous hotel. A lovely place in a quiet village. Easy bus access to Belfast, The city airport and Bangor. The food was to die for. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The people of Northern Ireland are so friendly and made us very welcome.
The wedding reception was really lovely. The wedding breakfast, superb.
I hope we will return sometime soon.

Room Tip: Had a standard room which was good. It is a bit noisy from the many wedding receptions. If you . The...
