I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions for business purposes and have been so impressed I keep meaning to book a long weekend with my partner. While there isn't much around the hotel itself, it isn't far from Belfast - I would definately hire a car from the airport though if I stayed for anything other than business.

Every bedroom is decorated differently and each has a different name, giving it that personal touch. Its very oldie worldy but you can't help falling for the place. Even reception area has great character and in the winter you walk through the front door to a large open fire. Very welcoming!

Service has always been amazing here for business and also in the evenings in the bar and restaurant. Breakfast - well, you have quite a choice - full Irish or just toast, you pick! The evening menu is also superb and very beautifully cooked and presented.

If you enjoy a walk, behind the hotel is a wooded country park with pathways which takes you down to Belfast Lough - which has a beach and I have witnessed people swimming there. Its a beautiful spot and well worth a wander!

If you're a smoker, it has possibly the BEST smoking area i've ever witnessed - specially built pavillion in the garden with its own furniture and open fire for the winter! If you're not a smoker, you will still appreciate this little folly and the lovely small garden it sits in.

Room Tip: I've stayed in several rooms at this hotel and they are all lovely. However, if you like your wi...

Dear cloverwood, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. We were delighted to see that you enjoyed your recent visit with us and left with so many positive views of not just ourselves but of Northern Ireland. Thanks particularly for your kind words on the food and service. Also, as you correctly point out all of rooms are named instead of numbered, very much in keeping with a coaching inn that will be 400 years old next year. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. KInd regards, the team at The Old Inn.

we have been a couple of times for wedding receptions but never stayed before. The room though small was amazing! Four poster bed, massive high ceiling feature the gables, and a bar window with steps up to it. You don't need a massive room to have all the luxuries.

The bed (mattress) was a little uncomfortable and I though the room was slightly cold and reception said they would have to switch of the entire side of the hotel to heat up our room. So it wasn't that easy to control the heating. Saying that the entire hotel was lovely and warm thanks to the massive fires lit around the place and the small of a good fire was all over the hotel adding to its uniqueness.

We had dinner & breakfast with our stay. The food was very very nice, close to sliver service! The staff were very friendly and very professional, nothing to fault at all.

We'll deff be back.

By far one of the nicest places i have stayed! Lovely bar where we had a few drinks after checking in, our room was lovely and staff so genuine and friendly could not have asked for better service. We had dinner in the restaurant that night and can honestly say it was one of the best meals i have ever had, cannot rate this hotel enough! Only downside is not much to do in Crawfordsburn itself however Bangor and Belfast are close enough for this not to matter.

Everything about this old inn is superb staff are very friendly while professional and so polite, food is fantastic you could over indulge very quickly. The welcome entrance with the log fire burning is great and the outside area again with fire burning is so good, this old inn will be 400 yrs old next year, this place is must visit for anyone coming to n.ireland a great place to stay but even if you are not it is well worth a visit for bar food, evening meal or even a good pint of the black stuff. DONT MISS OUT.

I do not often write reviews but feel after reading a few of the below that I should.

My wife purchased a Living Social voucher for me as a gift for a well over-due promotion at work and I have to say we were blown away.

The staff could not have been more helpful. The care and attention given to us both was amazing. I have had afternoon tea several times at many hotels in and around the area and have definitely found my new favourite.

Our bedroom was great and we even got a show round of some of the other rooms which where each as individual as a fingerprint and each a little pocket of luxury. An early evening in the garden with a few drinks as the sun went down over Crawfordsburn Country Park, it was easy to see what inspired C.S. Lewis all those years ago.

We can read, so we booked our stay in time and have already booked our next stay, Can't Wait.

This hotel is a hidden jewel and should be experienced without pause. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but it would seem that some people just expect the world to revolve around them.

Dear pgtips2013, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor, and congratulations on your recent promotion! We were delighted to see that you enjoyed your recent stay with us on a Living Social promotion. We stayed here for one night at the end of July for a wedding. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the day. Garden area is very nice and includes an open fire and comfy seating area which were lovely.
We were given the disabled room which is on the ground floor through the library. Although it was strange to know there could be people sitting right outside your room at any time, the room was spacious and clean. Saying that, we did prefer other rooms that we saw, all of which vary in design and size which gives the place a more homely feel. The rooms weren't particularly modern but that added to the charm.
Only a short taxi ride to Belfast city centre and George Best Airport.
If you like, you can take a short walk to the coast through the forest behind the hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms are very different from each other. We had the disabled suite (through the library - a...

Dear Matt C, Thank you for taking the time to post a review on Tripadvisor. We were delighted to see that you enjoyed your recent stay with us.Thank you for your kind words on the presentation of the hotel, our garden pavilion was painstakingly designed to reflect the atmosphere of the inside of the hotel, which is one the reasons why it houses a real fire. Thank you also for the kind words on our staff, we have been assessing our training needs at all levels and are currently mid way through a year long assessments of mystery shops that we are finding very interesting. As you correctly out, and well spotted, all of our bedrooms are individually styled in a manner befitting an inn approaching 400 years next year. We save the more contemporary touches for the bathrooms such as heated towel rails, all white and chrome detailing and power showers. We look forward to welcoming you again soon. Kind regards, the team at The Old Inn.

Stayed here for one night having dinner. Hotel is charming, having been founded in 1641. The thatched roof on the oldest part of the building adds to the charm. The bar and restaurant are well appointed, with the later having recently been redesigned. Dinner was very good, scallops and crackling on starter list being especially good. Service was very good and efficient with all staff, including the owner, being on hand to make us feel most welcome. Outdoor garden complete with covered area, with a warming fire, provides a tranquil area to relax. The nearby forest park, complete with waterfall affords the visitor with a chance to have a stroll down to Belfast Lough shore. Well worth a visit.
