“Very welcoming owners, comfortable and relaxing stay”
Reviewed 15 July 2013

The warm welcome and care Anna and Ken gave us over the weekend was fabulous and lived up to their reputation. Despite our late arrival from the airport, we were welcomed with tea and freshly baked biscuits. Each morning we had a delicious (and large!) breakfast including apricots with ginger, fresh fruit salad, cereal, juice, freshly baked bread and scones and an Ulster fry. The lovely large lounge and the more private sitting rooms upstairs were great to relax in. We were recommended the pub at the end of the road for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Anna's House made an ideal base to visit Northern Ireland. We went to Belfast and up the Antrim coast to Dunluce Castle, Giants Causeway, Bushmills Distillery and Carrick-y-rede rope bridge. I'd definitely be pleased to stay at Anna's House again. As someone else has written, it would be like visiting old friends.

I was looking for a B&B near Comber for a work visit and found Anna's House on Tripadvisor.
What a find!

I got a lovely welcome, Anna was kind enough to check the local hotel for food options and when I got back after a nice meal it was to a comfy and spotless en suite room, with my own supply of fresh milk in a mini fridge in case I wanted a cuppa before breakfast.

Ah yes, breakfast. I a, a veggie and enjoyed a delicious omelette and warm home made scones with my pot of coffee.

Anna and her husband are helpful, friendly and happy to share local interests. If I find myself in the Comber area again, I will be back. Their dog was very friendly too, although sadly not in evidence in the morning.

We stayed for 2 nights in June with my wifes parents over from Australia and had a lovely time. Anna welcomed us with tea and home made biscuits, the bedrooms were lovely and Anna and Ken really made an effort to make us feel at home and couldn't do enough for us. For breakfast we tried the Ulster fry, omlette, and poached eggs, along with home made yogurt, fruit and home made bread and fruit scones and various cereals. We dined at the restaurant at Balloo which was very good and at Daft Eddys on Strangford lough which had lovely views. Anna called and booked both for us. Maxi? the Jack Russell took great pleasure showing us round the gardens which must have been beautiful in years gone by. The living room designed by Ken has a huge window with wonderful views over a lake, fields, nearby church and the Mourne Mountains. We would all recommend staying there.

We were enchanted with Anna and Ken. Their house is lovely. The communal sitting room overlooks a small lake and fields of sheep. Our room ( the green room) was quite comfortable and we made great use of the sitting area right outside it. Breakfasts were quite filling and generous and our hosts could not have been more hospitable! ( Ken offered to drive us to and from the local so we could both imbibe. We chose to walk, but another guest took him up on it.). We would love to return!

After reading lots of great reviews on this place we were so looking forward to a lovely "luxury, organic bed and breakfast" which we feel really didnt live up to its name.
Whilst Ken and Anna are a friendly, helpful elderly couple and clearly love what they do the bed and breakfast is no longer as it reads on paper. On our arrival here there was washing drying everywhere,we were taken through their own personal sitting room to our bedroom at the back and the heat caught you in the back of the throat so much so that during our entire stay the bedroom window had to be kept open. Our room was comfy and nice sheets on the bed but the bathroom had other peoples toiletries and sponge in it! We were asked if we could have breakfast at 8.30am as the room needed to be cleaned for the next people arriving and considering that we only checked in after 5pm we didnt think this was great service. Breakfast was at a communal table with 4 others and Anna had made lovely bread and fruit but I was dissapointed and had expected more from all the great reviews. We left feeling really dissapointed after spending money that could have been spent somewhere much better.
I am really sorry to write this review as this is Ken and Annas home but I feel dissapointed-sorry!

Returning to Northern Ireland we had to stay with Anna and Ken again. Their friendliness and hospitality is wonderful. The standard of accommodation and breakfast is all we could want and more. The freshly brewed coffee and biscuist straight out of the oven upon arrival sets the standard of service and care that continued throuh the three days of our stay.

If we are lucky enough to return to this area we would stay with them again, like calling in on friends!
