Description: In addition to 23 comfy bedrooms The Bar at Ducks Inn is a superb, relaxed eating place. All the food is sourced locally and produced on the premises by Chef Mozdzen and his team. The menu changes with the seasons. Just 40 minutes down the coast from Edinburgh and its airport, Ducks Inn nestles in the sleepy village of Aberlady . Ducks Inn has one of Scotland's top whisky bars housing around one hundred malt whiskies including a collection from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society of which Ducks Inn is a Home from Home partner bar. The wine list is one of the finest in Scotland and complements the outstanding menu in Ducks Restaurant. The Bar is very traditional, filled with golfing memorabilia and bar putting games. Real Ales are also a feature and Doombar is a regular with two guest beers rotating regularly. The Bar at Ducks Inn also features a large humidor filled with Cubans. You will always find a fond welcome when you Duck Inn to The Bar at Ducks Inn!

This one of the most enjoyable meals we have had and went back a second time while on holiday. The service was fantastic and warm, couldn't fault anything. We all had clean plates. Would recommend this to everyone.

Went with a couple of hard-to-please teenage girls. It is usually a struggle to get them to eat more than a chip, but they did indeed do well with their meals. I can say my meal included the best burger of my life! Staff were friendly, accommodating and efficient. The decor and demeanor of the place contribute to its relaxed, homely atmosphere. Excellent establishment for a highly enjoyable feast. We will surely come again, or maybe try Duck's...

Although accustomed to the excellent fare in Duck's, the sister restaurant, we were not disappointed by two recent meals in Donald's. The wide choice on the menu was priced for a lower budget but maintained the standards of food and presentation established in Duck's. The house Sauvignon Blanc was very good value. There was no problem in the kitchen catering for a coeliac guest. The owner was in attendance and constantly monitored our service. Thoroughly recommended.

Ate at Donalds on a weekday evening. As always the staff were welcoming. Service was excellent - server mentioned that my first choice of wine might not be available when I ordered and when it wasn't, helped me select a similar wine ( taste and budget) which he knew was available. Food came promptly -
All our food was well prepared - fish well cooked, steak as requested, the chips were very hot - just as they should be. The trio of ice creams for pudding was great.

I live in Europe and always make a point of eating at Donald's at least once when visiting East Lothian - so cant say that I recognise the descriptions of the previous reviews. I really recommend Ducks for relaxed and casual dining - it does what it says on the tin...

Drove down from Edinburgh on Saturday for lunch having looked at the website & thinking it would be a lovely experience. Oh what a disappointment! We entered a very shabby front porch & walked through a variety of rooms which seem to be made up of old mismatched tatty furniture (certainly not giving a shabby chic effect!). The dining area in the bar is set up to the rear in a very uninviting setting. We waited for at least 5 minutes at the bar for someone to come through & when we did they were more interested in singing along to the dire music than speaking to us. We asked for a menu & were then ignored for the entirety of drinking our glass of wine so left without even sampling the food. Please employ staff who care about customers & want to engage with them & perhaps more people would want to visit.

Again, I have refrained from replying for a goodly length of time. The comments of others speak volumes.

The description of the place does not bear out the physical reality, the staff though young seem to be very caring according to other reviews.

Why is it that people who write this type of review never make themselves known to mw. I am mostly here and my card with mobile number and email is always at the desk.

How can it be fair to review a restaurant if you haven’t eaten the food?
