Coming to the area for the Britisch Open we found ourselves in the ackward situation that our original booked accommodation did not book us in. With the entire region being fully booked we were very fortunate we found Sally and Robert Belderbos from Aberlady Mains House, who were kind enough to take us in. With the Muirfield golf course only a 5 minute drive away it was the most perfect location.
Sally and Robert did not only open their beautiful home with lovely grounds to us. They even have a wild deer with babies on their 3 acres land. Sally and Robert understand what hospitality is and how to make their guests feel very welcome! They served a great breakfast with several kinds of cereals, various fresh fruits and a well cooked hearty breakfast to your liking. Even our doggies were welcome!
The gave us fantastic suggestions for fine dining restaurants and where willing to make the reservations for us.
We stayed with them for three days and felt spoiled to the bone.

For nine years, in May, I have stayed in Robert & Sally Belderbos' Aberlady Mains House. It is close to such wonderful Golf Courses as Luffness & Gullane, & Muirfield is only ten minutes away. Kilspindie & Longniddry are nearby too & Musselburgh Racecourse is within easy reach.
I needed to be on the first tee at Muirfield at 0800 & my beautifully cooked breakfast was served at 0715, what more could I want ?

Room Tip: Up the stairs, turn left & room on left is quiet & roomy

We have stayed several times in both summer and winter at Aberlady House and, on all occasions the owners Sally and Robert Belderbos were extremely friendly and the perfect hosts. The quality and comfort of the accommodation was simply outstanding and the breakfast was both substantial and superb. The location is ideal for golf, walking and sight-seeing in general. We would unhesitatingly recommend it to anyone. John

Room Tip: All the rooms that we saw were excellent.

We stayed with Sally and Robert for 2 nights recently when visiting East Lothian for a friends 60th birthday party and are so glad that we chose Aberlady Mains House. The bedroom was enormous and really comfortable and there is a really lovely lounge for guests to relax in as well as a huge well-kept garden.
Breakfast was substantial and tasty and set us up for a day's sightseeing in lovely East Lothian..We would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for the room at the back overlooking the wheat (?) field.

We stayed at Aberlady mains house B&B for 5 nights.
The location was superb and the house which was an old farmhouse off the beaten track was so quiet and peacefull and the outlook from our room across a field, and the firth of forth in the distance.

If you like some peace and quiet this is the place.

The cooked breakfast was just the ticket to set you up for the day.

Sally and Robert and their new Labrador Perry were the perfect hosts.

We have stayed at Aberlady Mains house several times and are always sad to leave. The house itself is beautiful with an impressive drive, lovely gardens and a rural outlook. Robert and Sally are very welcoming and the large bedrooms are furnished with style and comfort in mind. The beds are so comfortable you won't want to get up in the morning but do make the effort because we have never found a breakfast anywhere to match Sally's!
When you finally manage to stagger away from the table we can recommend the short walk down to the shore. The coastline here is beautiful and there are several golf courses nearby. If you enjoy walking then do take the long stroll through the nature reserve and perhaps continue on to the Scottish Seabird Centre at North Berwick. Alternatively all the city attractions of Edinburgh are only a short drive away or leave your car at Longniddry station and catch the train in. When you are ready for your evening meal there are two excellent pub/restaurants in Aberlady village before returning to the comfort of Aberlady Mains House.
