My boyfriend and I stopped off here for lunch on a trip along to Gullane and we're glad that we did! The hotel from the outside is lovely and inside is very welcoming. Staff were very nice. We were the only ones in the restaurant (it was a Friday lunch time) for some time before another group came in and we were given a seat looking out to the back courtyard. The menu had a good selection. We chose the fish and chips which, interestingly comes in 2 sizes, small and large. I went for the small as it was only lunch time and this portion was surprisingly filling! The fish was just delicious and was floating in the crispiest, lightest batter I have ever had. The chips were fried with their skin on making them nice and crispy too. I think the price of this dish was around £6 and was well worth it - I would return for the meal alone!
Well worth a visit. Lovely walks and staff great and very accommodating. The only downside were the rooms are a little small and bathrooms dated. But very clean and comfortable beds. If you are a golfer then ask to try the very innovative putting challenges in the bar and get your name up on the wall!! so many superior Golf courses in abundance within a few miles.
Got this on an itison deal and have to say not impressed at all.
Staff very friendly and helpful which was a plus and the saving grace.
Place looked a bit tired and in need of some work but it was spotlessly clean and the room whilst on the small side was comfortable enough.
Drinks prices on the high side just shy of £10 for a vodka & coke and a gin & tonic. This was in a way reflected in their extensive wine list though I have to say the wines we had were excellent quality.
Food was way overpriced for what was served sorry but there is no other description for average fare at prices like that - RIP OFF!
Also do appreciate deep fried bacon and sausage for breakfast!
Stayed one night on an itison deal on a bed and breakfast deal. The room was standard but clean and overlooked the main road. It was fine for one night. We dined in the restaurant and had a lovely meal. The only criticism I have is the price of the wines on offer. A wide variety but they did not have the one I eventually chose. Breakfast was good and the staff were very attentive. We may return at some time in the future.
We arrived at around 3pm,and were shown hour four poster bedroom, the room had everything you will need in a bedroom, plus the bathroom had a build in jaccussy, the staff were so nice it was like been abroad,we had a champagne reception with canapes, sat to dinner and was not overly impressed by the food ,the life music was good and all in all we had a great time.
I would recommend Ducks to all my friends.
Will be back soon .
