This little gem is very special. We stumbled across it on a Sunday afternoon after our initial ideas fell short (they were both closed), I am so glad!! A beautiful family run restaurant with amazing food - perfect al dente pasta, great focaccia and fabulous wine! The service was fantastic, great attention without feeling like they were constantly on our shoulder. I can’t wait to find an excuse to drive back to Musselburgh and go back here again.

In a world full of chain restaurants, Dal Patino is a breath of fresh air - a family-run, local restaurant serving fantastic and authentic Italian food in a cosy setting. The food is delicious, service always warm & friendly, and the menu is far more interesting than your average pizza/pasta places. Have visited several times and never been disappointed. Dal Patino is the real deal and worth heading out to Musselburgh for from the city centre.

Didn’t get off to a good start when we entered and waiter nodded towards our table over on the far side rather than show us over, followed by a reminder that we needed to leave by 7.30....so we didn’t feel welcomed. Nobody took our coats either. One starter was nice, though we didn’t expect curry in our Italian starter. The other starter was awful..stale solid bread and little pre packed butter patties. Inedible if we wanted to save our teeth. The calzone was huge but the ham was rock solid and chewy. The risotto was so salty it took a layer off my tongue. The lady server was lovely but the male server had zero customer service never mind charm. This is our second visit, having been hugely underwhelmed last time. Suffice to say that there won’t ever be a third visit.

A group of us were attending a concert in the Lammermuir Festival and went for a pre-concert meal at this restaurant. I can speak only for myself and my wife and that we thoroughly enjoyed our meals: the rest of the party of 6 also spoke warmly of their meals. We arrived at 6.00 p.m. and had limited time so missed starters. I had a most enjoyable Gnocchi with sausage - and not drowned in tomato paste as is often the case - whilst my wife, who is Olive intolerant, was provided with a beautifully cooked sea bass with vegetables and no hint of olive oil(!). For dessert most of us had a delicious pannacotta, which was very nearly as good as one we had in Lucca some years ago (the only occasion I've ever asked for 'seconds' of a dessert). The wine was pleasant, the waiter very attentive and helpful, even to the extent of providing extra bread for mopping up the sauces in the main course. It was a most enjoyable meal and we will happliy return there. Incidentally, the entire meal cost for six adults, in the region of £130 and it was money very well spent. Thanks again, Dal Patino
