“Great Little Find”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

We were heading to the East Neuk of Fife when we noticed the signs for here and are so pleased we followed them and visited this castle. It is small but the history is interesting and it is set in beautiful surroundings. The woman in the tiny shop was very helpful. The views are amazing as are the butterflies in the garden. This was a great start to our holiday.

“Not worth the entrance fee”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

Adults, £5.50, children £3. Boot worth the entrance fee and to be honest, I witnessed quite a few people just walk in having not paid the fee. Expected perhaps some displays for the kids in the main roofed party of the building but nothing. Quite disappointed overall.

I wouldn't make a special trip to see it but if you find yourself in Aberdour then this is worth visiting.

“Well-kept ruin”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

This is a great old castle with remnants of various expansions over the last 800 years and well worth a visit. There are good info boards explaining the history of the castle and a nicely reconstructed terraced garden. The painted ceiling in the east range was possibly the highlight, along with the fantastic views. Friendly staff in the ticket office too!

“Auld Aberdour”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

If you are ticking off castles in Scotland then this is a must. It`s the oldest castle in Scotland and while it has none of the majesty of Edinburgh or the pomp of Stirling, in it`s own quiet way it`s worth a visit. It wont take you long to go round but combine it with a visit to the Church next door and browse some of the oldest gravestones about. This area in general has nice walks about. Close to the station if you are travelling by train
