“The Waterfront Chip Shop”
Reviewed 14 May 2012

This Fish and Chips shop is owned by The Waterfront Hotel, but is a separate entity. There are several Fish and Chip shops in Anstruther and they are all good - but this one is my favorite. Like another reviewer said - "There is seldom a queue" - which is a definite plus as the nearby World Famous Anstruther Fish Bar often has a queue half way round the block.
As for the fish, it is excellent and, in my opinion, the chips are the best in town. They also have quite a variety of other things on the menu and a large selection of "kids meals" which are excellent value if you just want a snack.
The actual shop is tiny, but they have tables outside on the pavement which are great to eat at on those rare occasions when the sun is shining!

“Nice setting, average food”
Reviewed 12 May 2012

I ordered what was listed as seared Tiger prawns and scallops, which turned out to be small shrimp and scallops in a cream cause. The sauce was nice, with toasted pine nuts and shaved parmesan.

“This is a really nice place to dine when visiting Anstruther.”
Reviewed 7 May 2012

We had a nice meal in the waterfront, during a long weekend in the East Neuk area. I phoned and booked a seat at the window, as i thought the view would have been really nice across the harbour. Im sure it would have been, had it not been marred by the two big blue dumpsters outside the restaurant. This kind of took the magic of the evening away for me. The staff are nice enough and the place does have a nice feel about it. one of the better places to eat in the village.

“Some highs , some lows”
Reviewed 4 May 2012

Went for lunch with my son and family. Nice place with plenty of space but quite uncomfortable chairs. Staff all very smily and helpful. Menu massive and a good wine list with a good number by the glass.
Food slow to arrive, considering half full. Starters all rated very good especially smoked haddock goujons.
Mains not so good. Lamb cutlets thought great , smoked salmon pasta very greasy, haggis burgers very dry and boring with surprisingly tastless chips.
We all agreed that we would probably not return.
