“Lovely cottage in quiet hamlet close to delightful Anstruther et al”
Reviewed 2 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Kilrenny is so small that we were directed to the cottage by a picture and cross on the map rather than an address, but had no trouble locating it. The hamlet is expanding with some new development, but maintains a beautiful character with a church, a playing field, walks, a set of traffic lights and two dog bins. - all of which we made use of. The cottage feels like someone's cared for home rather than a rental, even so the owner kindly allows well behaved dogs (or dog in our case). A car is pretty well essential, but relatively short drives will take one to Anstruther, Elie, Crail, St Andrews or a host of golf courses and beaches. We only stayed 3 nights but wished it had been more.

“Duck Cottage Home from Home”
Reviewed 11 March 2013 for a stay in February 2013

Lovely little cottage in a nice area of Scotland, Beautifully decorated with a well equiped kitchen and comfortable lounge and bedrooms. A real fire or mulitifuel stove in the living area would have been nice especially as we visited in February but the heating system soon warmed up the cottage. Wifi access would also have been a bonus and we would have been happy to pay an additional charge for this facility as our son was visiting from Edinburgh University and wanted to study.
We would definately stay here again as it was one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in that allows you to take your dog.
I would have given it five stars if it had had a fire or mulitifuel stove and internet access, it was a little cold at times but we did visit in winter.

Thanks for your kind words, and I have investigated restoring the fireplace in the living room, but found a rather neat, safe and environmentally friendly solution - a Biofuel stove. Real flame, real warmth, no soot, no cinders, no CO2, and no messy fireplace to clean. Biofuel is supplied at the Cottage, and you only pay for the bottles you use. I am really pleased with the living area having a real flame for the first time in decades, especially as it's so easy to clean and use. I hope guests enjoy it as much as I have.

Regarding internet access, sadly BT have let me down on a number of occasions, which has meant me not investing in a landline. I have found mobile 3G coverage to be excellent however, but understand how this may not live up to guests expectations of what they receive at home. I hope it's clear enough at the time of booking that there is no fixed internet or wifi coverage at the Cottage, so guests can make an informed choice.

“Good base to explore the East Neuk of Fife”
Reviewed 20 November 2012 for a stay in October 2012

I had a relaxing 4 night break with my wife, mother-in-law and 2 dogs in this 17th Century cottage which has been internally modernised throughout. We collected the keys from a house just along the road and had no problems with the on-street parking. There is a large step to the front gate and although my 73 year-old mother-in-law had no problem, this can be avoided by using the side door.

The village itself was very quiet and there is a park in which to walk the dogs just across the road. The church clock chimed on the hour except through the night.

All rooms are large. There are a wide range of DVD's, CD's and books to entertain along with several brochures detailing local sites and retaurants. The kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, crockery and utensils. The owner has some of his photographic work on display and more are available to buy. The bedrooms are at opposite ends of the upstairs landing with the bathroom in between.

We found the cottage an ideal base from which to visit the local fishing ports of Anstruther, Crail and Pittenweem; the Secret Bunker and was only about a 25 minute drive from St. Andrews.

“Great Cosy Cottage - full of character”
Reviewed 4 September 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We had a lovely week staying in Duck Cottage. It is very well equiped and comfortable a nd in a super location. Kilrenny is very peaceful - we liked having a park / woods nearby to walk the dog and also being close to the coastal path.
Lots of tourist info in brochure in cottage including restaurant recommendations. Enjoyed visiting St Andrews and all the villages on the East neuk. A great holiday destination and we would love to return again.
