We stayed for three nights earlier this month and had a really good experience. Our room was comfortable and clean and the bathroon was in excellent order.

The restaurant, which we ate in for two of the nights was very good indeed. The food was well cooked and well presented and portion sizes were exceptional. The waiting staff were very friendly and the service was prompt and efficient. The breakfast menu was extensive and would suit everyone, even the fussiest of eaters.

We would certainly recommend The Waterfront to all looking for accommodation and food in Anstruther.

I am writing my review here as can't find a separate part for the fish & chip shop. We have been frequent visitors to Anstruther for many years and always went to a well known chip shop further down the street. This normally meant long queues so when a friend recommended the Waterfront we decided to give it a try. We are so very glad we did. All the food is cooked to order. The first time we ate from there we decided that this little gem was going to give the competition a run for its money. We have been back twice since and each time we have found consistently good quality food. Lovely golden chips and boneless crispy battered fish. This is now our fish & chip take away of choice. The "award" winning chip shop further down the street has gone way down hill and has not actually won an award since 2009 but is still trading on it's past merits. I think that as more and more people try the Waterfront and compare it they will soon be the ones with queues a mile long with customers prepared to wait for a good fish tea.

Visited here for an evening meal (2 people) First of all, may I say the location is beautiful!
We were pleased with the choices available on the menu.
We both had starters, the soup of the day had been changed, but the waitress was quick to inform us of the change. Both starters were lovely. We both ordered fish for our main (afterall, we were in Anstruther) We waited 45 minutes on our main course to arrive, with no member of staff asking if we would like more drinks inbetween. The main courses arrived and to be honest we were both disappointed with the very small portion size and the amount of oil swimming around our plates. Given the prices being charged, we expected something a little more impressive.
Given most of the previous reviews are quite positive, I'm hoping this may have just been an off evening.
May return at some point, hoping our opinion may change.

The waterfront is nice as hotel and as restaurant. I strongly suggest fish&chips in the restaurant.
The hotel room was vey clean and big. It is only a little too expensive, being it in a small town and not in a big city like Edinburgh.
The hotel is in Anstruther city center (small nice town), and the parking is free only after 5 pm.
We was there on 9 july 2013.
There is free wifi, too.

Stayed at Watetfront Rooms which adjoins Waterfront Resteraunt , for 3 nights in July. An excellent stay in a lovely location in beautiful Anstruther. Room No 5 was indeed excellent, and nice a quiet to facialate a good nights sleep. Room was large, huge bed and large bathroom, all with great facilities . Free wifi was also good, other such establishments sometimes charge.

Waterfront Rooms are attached to the Waterfront Resteraunt, with a harbour view. Food was excellent and staff and service were first class and extremely helpfull and friendly. Will be back, loved Anstruther and the area, and thoroughly enjoyed Waterfront.

Stayed at the Waterfront for two nights and we were pleased with it - Room 1 was very nice - very clean and comfortable - like other reviewers we would have liked a view of the harbour - but apart from that no complaints. Food was excellent - delicious breakfasts which were included in the room rate. We also had dinner on one of the nights - the Chef's curry which also was delicious. Staff all extremely pleasant and helpful - only problem we had was parking which is a bit difficult - but we managed eventually. We really enjoyed our stay - the Waterfront is in a good location. We travelled around during our stay and if the weather had been kinder would have done a lot more. We would definitely consider staying at the Waterfront again

We stayed at the Waterfront during a visit to relatives who live north of Anstruther. The premises are actually classed as a restaurant with rooms - the restaurant overlooks the harbour and the rooms are through a courtyard behind the restaurant. At first this entrance seems a bit tacky, but it leads to a very pretty flower lined courtyard and the entrance to the accommodation.

Our room was on the first floor, and overlooked roofs and buildings - a bit disappointing as the harbour outside is so picturesque. My sister in law was thrilled to be able to have a nice single room at half the rate of a double (this is much too rare), and our room was big enough with a huge TV, and extremely comfortable bed. Everywhere was very clean, and the bathroom was good, with a shower above the bath. Staff are very friendly and helpful, we had everything we needed, but like other reviewers, our only problem was with the floorboards in the rooms above. The noise varied as to where they were being trodden on, but at one time I woke alarmed that someone was coming into the room, the noise in the door corner was so bad. You certainly shouldn't keep away because of that, but just be aware! The lovely thing about the property is the restaurant - it's quite wonderful, and I wish I could go there every week - particularly for the super Clam Chowder. The food is excellent and It's obviously very popular, so booking is advisable. We had breakfast included in our room rate, and we took that in the restaurant with views across the road to the fishing boats in the harbour - a terrific way to start the day. We'll be back to the Waterfront, it really is a charming place and I can't wait to return.
