“Fantastic Break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2013

This was my second visit to the Hazelton Guest House and once again I had a fantastic time. I had a beautiful room on the first floor for 2 nights and was very reluctant to leave, but hope to be back again soon. Karen and David are so friendly and welcoming and as soon as I arrived I felt relaxed and at home. I have visited the East Neuk of Fife many times but I would say overall the Hazelton ticks all the right boxes for myself and I love staying in Crail and exploring the pretty surrounding coastal villages. Breakfast was delicious and the homemade shortbread is to die for!! Thanks again for a wonderful few sunny days!!

Over the course of the year, due to leisure pursuits we tend to stay in a lot of hotels and B&B’s; ‘The Hazelton’ in Crail is by far our favourite.
Karen & David are the perfect hosts, friendly, welcoming & informative, whether the information you seek is regarding recommended nearby restaurants or the many costal walks/places of interest that a visitor may wish to visit.
The B&B itself resembles a top end boutique hotel, spotlessly clean, the rooms are very comfortable and stylish with all their extra’s and the breakfasts are superb…….the cooked food being of high quality and locally sourced, with an additional effort by Karen of making homemade granola & breakfast cereals; every effort is obviously made by the hosts to ensure their guests enjoy their stay and it shows.
For the last 3 years we have tried to stay at The Hazelton every time we visit Crail, we don’t always manage to get a reservation and therefore have tried other B&B’s in the area, no slur intended on any of the other establishments we have stayed in locally but they simply do not compare. Prices are always similar per night but the quality of The Hazelton far outshines any of its competitors.
Can highly recommend.

Room Tip: We have stayed in most of the rooms, honestly they are all excellent.

We loved our night in The Hazelton Guest House. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts, Karen and David, who gave us the right advice for restaurant and site worth a walk before dinner - Crail Harbor is very charming. We had a resting night in the 1st floor rooms we booked and our hosts arranged like private appartment so our boys could be in their own bedroom, but safely close to ours. The whole family felt like home in the spacious and beautifuly decorated rooms. Our boys appreciated the game and the delicious home made shortbread biscuits. Breakfast was excellent. We would certainly come back and would highly recommend the guesthouse to our friends.

This is our second visit to the Hazelton. We stayed 2 nights this time. Lovely house with beautifully appointed bedrooms, tea/coffee and nice touches like shortbread. Good quality toiletries and spotless accommodation. We can thoroughly recommend this place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view.

The Hazelton Guest House is a charming B&B in a beautiful old medieval fishing village. We had a very restful night at Hazelton after a long journey and were warmly welcomed by our hosts, David and Karen. Our room was spotless, lovely toiletries, tea, coffee and all extras to make our night comfortable were supplied. Breakfast was delicious with many homemade extras included. Free wifi and parking outside all helped to make our stay easy. The view from our top room in the morning across to the Isle of May was superb. A great stop on a cold, wet and windy day, much appreciated.

What a delight! My wife and I stayed for one night at the Hazelton and were highly impressed. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were even offered a choice of rooms! We chose the room on the first floor which was extremely comfortable and absolutely spotless. Delightful touches such as speciality teas and luxury toiletries added greatly to the enjoyment of our stay. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. All in all, a great place to stay.
