“Beautiful and relaxing”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

We were greeted with a warm welcome upon arrival and after a drive from Edinburgh enjoyed the tea and cake once we had settled in. Our room and en suite were spacious and pristine. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the tranquil setting with beautiful views. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and Lesley's hospitality was second to none. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would recommend to anyone spending time in this part of Scotland.

The scene was set for a 3-day stay, by Lesley providing delicious tea & cake on arrival. The Shellycoat room held the 4-poster bed with ease. That was extremely comfortable, & we benefitted from such good refreshing sleep. The en-suite bathroom was large & well-appointed. Breakfasts were a meal for the day, with home baked pancakes & other goodies added. Lesley was an excellent hostess, providing advice & local information most willingly. This enterprise deserves the highest star rating in any category. With many thanks, M. & J. W..

What a wonderful experience. This was the prettiest B&B we stayed at during our five-week tour of England, Scotland and Wales. Leslie is a wonderful hostess. We received a warm welcome, tea and treats in the sitting room when we arrived, and great breakfasts every day. The Shellycoat four poster room was fantastic - the most comfortable and the most beautiful room we had during our entire trip. We highly recommend this B&B.

Room Tip: Get the Shellycoat four poster room. It was wonderful - really spacious and beautiful.

My wife and I have just spent a weekend at Troustrie House courtesy of a gift voucher given as a birthday present by my son along with a ringing endorsement as he had already stayed there and was full of praise of the accomodation. The best form of any advertising is by word of mouth and we were not disappointed. We were greeted on arrival by Lesley shown around and then given tea with a delicious homemade Victoria sponge and shortbread in the lovely guest drawing room. The bedroom itself [Shellycoat with the four poster ] lived up to the pictures and was a really lovely room with beautiful soft furnishings enhanced by bright sunlight streaming through the two satch windows and great views across the fields to the Forth. The en -suite could only be described as large and luxurious and the word en suite failing to do justice to its spaciousness and quality of toiletries and soft christie towels-sumptious!
We liked the attention to detail like the small chocolates and fresh vase of flowers and everything was scrupiously clean.
Breakfast was first class with a wide and varied choice and convivial conversation with Lesley and fellow satisfied guests. In short Troustrie House delivers on what it says it does and Ifind it really hard to fault and there are many small touches which put 5* star hotels to shame. give it a go!

Room Tip: Both bedrooms south facing and both to be recommended

Our stay at Troustrie house was just wonderful, the start of our holiday in Scotland couldn’t have been better. Lesley is such a lovely host and gives you a warm welcome. She offers fantastic accommodation and a great breakfast with fresh products. We were staying in the Shellycoat room with the four poster bed and a nice view of the countryside. The room is beautifully decorated and has a large bathroom. Quiet location, just a short distance from Crail and Anstruther. We booked a trip to the Isle of May and it was amazing (reservation recommended). A perfect trip with loads of puffin sightings. We will definitely recommend this B&B!

Room Tip: The Shellycoat room is wonderful.

Troustrie House is a beautiful B&B situated on the outskirts of Crail, décor is stunning, hostess is lovely, hugely welcoming. Stayed there for several days in 2013 and are returning 2014. One of the best B&Bs in the UK. Gorgeous, peaceful setting in the middle of the countryside, looking over the fields to the coast. Wonderfully located for exploring the magical spots of Fife, all the quaint fishing villages, the town of St Andrews, Falkland Palace, the Scottish Underground Bunker, and the Isle of May. Will always remember the comfy bed and the large bathroom. Outstanding.

Room Tip: The four poster room has a beautiful bed and what I liked especially was the writing desk where I co...
