Stayed here for 3 nights this week for the Crail Book Festival. Lovely en-suite single room with glorious views over chimney pots and stepped-gabled houses to the sea and the islands. Breakfasts delicious (I do so like proper poached eggs) and Margaret is so kind and pleasant, and so informative about the local area. Next time I'll do the Fife Coastal Path after listening to her talking about it to other guests. And I shall be staying there next year!

Room Tip: The single room has lovely views over the rooftops to the sea

This 200 years old cottage is located in the heart of the cosy town of Crail, in front of a little car park, 10 seconds to the beach walk. If you're lucky with your booking, you can stay in the sea view room ( and its "dependance" ), so beautiful!
Margaret, the owner, is a very kind person; she gives you all the suggestions you need to visit the surroundings.
In the room we had a fridge ( really useful, as the days we stay were hot and we had our own water to cool down ), a microwave and the hospitality tray with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits.
To start your breakfast you can find fresh fruits, cereals and yogurt, followed by... your cooked choice.
Recommended b&b!!

This was our first time in Scotland and we went to St. Andrews to spend some time and was not able to find any place to stay plus it was too big a city so we started south and found Crail.
Our first visit to Selcraig House was in 1997. We spent a week with Margaret and got to stay in 4 of the 6 room at that time as some were already rented when we came in but she made arrangements and we went along with her plan. Wonderful breakfast every morning and terrific cooking. We had a great time so we invited Margaret to the US.
Again we were at Selcraig house in 2008 and again everything was outstanding and again we got Margaret to visit us in the US in 2009.
In 2010 we had an overnight at Selcraig house and enjoyed our time with Margaret and renewed an old friendship. If you are in the area and miss staying here, you have missed a wonderful place and great person.

My wife, dog and I had a very happy stay in Crail again. Crail is charming and restful of course, and had an old world charm. Margaret was extremely welcoming as always when we arrived. There is ample parking in front. Her B&B is in a very old, historic home, which is furnished with antique Victorian pieces. It was fascinating to see the old photos, china, and silverware. Our room was clean and comfortable with a variety of antique knick knacks. Breakfasts were great - lots of choice and prompt service. Close to the Fife Coastal path and within easy reach of St Andrews. Thank you Margaret for a great break.

We were happy we decided to stay in Crail and not St. Andrews during our visit to Fife. Crail was beautiful, of course, and had an old world charm. Margaret was extremely nice during our email exchanges when booking the room, and was very welcoming when we arrived. There is ample parking in front. Her B&B is in a very old, historic home, which is furnished with anique Victorian pieces. It was fascinating to see the old photos, china, and silverware. Our room was nice, however, felt a bit cluttered with a bit "too much" furniture and antique knick knacks - more space would have been nice and made our stay a bit more comfortable and homey. We had a four poster bed but the mattress could have been a bit thicker - I didn't quite get comfortable during our 2 night stay. Breakfasts were great - lots of choice and prompt service. Close to the Crail golfing society - 5 minute drive! - which was convenient for our two rounds in one day.

Stayed here during July with my son. We were in Crail for a day's golf. The landlady is the nicest person and really couldn't have done anymore for us. We stayed in the twin bedded room, which was very comfortable (although I hate to be petty but the door hinges really could do with some oil)... Anyway, more importantly, the breakfast was fabulous, the service was not only great but always with a smile and really you can't go wrong at all with a visit to this lovely quaint guest house. Thank you, once again.

Myself and a friend enjoyed a short stay at Selcraig as part of the Fife Coastal Path walk.
Although my friend and I appreciated the uniqueness of the house, it would appeal to a more maturer traveller, preferably those travelling outside of the UK who are interested in more of a culture aspect of a stay.
If you are looking for a slice of history, Selcraig will take you back in time. Authentic and Quaint, it shows you traditional Scotland.

We found our room a little too old and in need of updating... yet maybe that's part of the charm and character of the place?

Best wishes to Margaret who was very accomondating.
