It was a day for being out and about and Falkland seemed to be attracting lots of people. Not really knowing the town we headed for the main street and went into at least four establishments who could not cater or did not seem prepared at that time to cater for a table of five for lunch. Just past the violin shop we noticed a sign pointing the way the The Stag Inn. Worth a try we thought. We entered into a cosy and warm old style Scottish inn. The staff made us feel very welcome and we knew right away by the whole ambience that we had made the right choice.
The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice. Would definitely walk past the other establishments and go straight to this one next time we visit Falkland.

Hidden just of the main square, but well worth the extra minute walk. They gladly seated our party of 5 in their cosy and comfortable, open fire heated restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Took the whole family after hearing there was a new chef.
The food was excellent and well presented, nice to see food cooked well and thought put into the presentation, service was also excellent, very friendly staff, the atmosphere was lovely with a nice warm fire burning away and it was nice and busy. Will definitely go back and would thoroughly recommend it as the whole family enjoyed the food and atmosphere.

This is my local, only a hundred yards from my house. It has a wonderful array of music on offer. The highlight being the Wednesday night folk sessions, with often 20 plus musicians turning up to jam. Also on offer is karaoke, live bands and quiz nights, plenty to keep you amused. If we have visitors for the weekend the trip to the Stag has many times been the highlight.
The food goes up and down in quality, depending on the current chef. As a veggy it wins hands down compared to the other places in the village (except Pillars). The current curry and pint for £5.95 is a brilliant deal.

Back on holiday and pooped in with my brother for a drink. Great wee dog friendly pub with a good selection of beers and decent food.
