“Very good valued, tasty food but a bit quiet.”
Reviewed 17 April 2013 via mobile

My wife and I had lunch here today, and had a pleasant experience. We have eaten here before so knew what to expect, I.e, tasty, basic food at a good price.

First impressions , quite large restaurant, seperated into various sections, including a conservatory area, but there are are also more secluded areas for intimate dining. Restaurant has a function suite and welcomes large parties. The room was clean and nicely presented.

Meet and greet...., exactly as it should be, we were given the option where to sit, our menus were given out, specials explained and drinks order taken.

Menu.....varied, large selection of pub grub with some specials on offer. midweek deals such as 3 courses for £8.95, and sunday high teas available. We chose the lentil soup, and black pudding with a whisky cream sauce to start, followed by breaded haddock, and smoked haddock omelette. An excellent feature is that small portions are available for some items.

Service....was good, friendly and efficient. No mistakes were made during the meal.

Food.....simple, but tasty. Again my wife loved her lentil soup, and I found the smoked haddock omelette nice and substantial. Portion sizes were spot on for both of us.

Value....was excellent with 4 courses and 3 drinks for £32.

Overall....would return and recommend to anyone wanting a basic but tasty experience.
