nice hotel on the shore. we had a sea view room and the sound of the waves was enchanting.
rooms are basic and functional. the bar downstairs was very nice and service was very good.
Unfortunately, due to a very "late" night, we didn't make breakfast. It was only served until 9.30am on the Sunday morning. Staff were very pleasant & accommodating, booked us a taxi to take us to our venue and suggested local attractions that they thought we might like. great beach/coastal walk on the Sunday. would go back if we had another function in the area.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view room.

I stayed here in May for one night with a group of colleagues, and I think we all found the Crusoe to be very clean and comfortable place to spend time, beautiful location.

The name comes from the local sailor Alexander Selkirk who was marooned in the Pacific and was the inspiration for Robinson Crusoe. There are a few borderline tacky touches in the bar and restaurant areas to reinforce the association, but other than that this is a really great place. The rooms are bright and clean and have all the facilities you would expect, (nb this probably doesn't include uber-picky Americans), and the beds are nice and comfy. Most rooms have a sea view and the sea washes right up under the windows at high tide. Smashing service.

Lower Largo itself is picture postcard lovely, and the hotel is right on top of the quaint little harbour, still dotted with small boats. Other facilities are a bit limited, but the pub opposite, the Railway Inn is a fine example of a real pub, and stocks a decent range of real ales. Dominating the town is the viaduct from a long abandoned railway, it's just too pretty to demolish!

Food in the hotel is pretty standard, but well cooked and presented. There is a full blown restaurant upstairs, but it wasn't open when I visited, being only used for breakfast. The bar downstairs serves a well kept pair of real ales from Caledonian Brewery.

There's plenty of parking at the front, but try not to drive of the edge of the quay! Due to the abundance of courses the hotel gets full of golfers, which can get a bit tiresome when trying to have a conversation in the bar. Pointing out what a laughable waste of time the game is usually gets rid of them though. Still very much recommended for a pleasant stay though.

Room Tip: Avoid the Chicken Ceasar Salad, the inclusion of Anchovies is about as necessary as raw Liver in a B...

Thank you for your great comments regarding your stay with us. I am sorry the upstairs restaurant was not open during your visit as we only open it at the weekends until the end of May. If you are staying with us again you can request to dine in the restaurant I would be happy to accomodate this for you.

We stayed at the hotel for one night in April’12. The hotel is located on the quay of the small harbour of Lower Largo. Our room overlooked the Firth of Forth, the waves lapping against the quay below the window was very relaxing. The hotel bar/restaurant had a nice atmosphere and a good selection of beers and lagers etc. The bar food was well presented, tasty and reasonably priced. Being on the coast the village is close to the beach, a bracing walk to Leven (approx 2.5 mile) and back in time for lunch was most memorable.

Second time staying here. Love the situation of this hotel, right by the sea.
Had asked for a sea view room but due to a mix up we had to take a room in the old part with view of car park and harbour.Room needed a bit of TLC, was quite cold and had one of the worst showers I have ever had, water was hot but it trickled out.
Got a lovely apology and discount to make up for it. Food here is excellent, best fish and chips ever...and the trio of salmon was fab. The staff are so nice and so helpful.
Breakfast is also very good. We will be back for our sea view room.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room.

Never eaten here before, but when I booked, the lady was so helpful and welcoming we were all really looking forward to it. Went with 8 middle aged ladies, and we ate upstairs. The restaurant is very cosy, nicely presented and very welcoming tables. The young female waitresses couldn't have been more delightful. The menu was excellent and very varied. Lots of choice for non-meat eaters. We all had different starters, mains and pudd and they were all really excellent. Very imaginative and a lot of creativity. Well done to the chef. A number of us have eaten at some fine restaurants around the world, and for a sleepy village restaurant in the middle of nowhere this hotel is a must for a nice Saturday night meal out.
It is very reasonably priced for what we had and would have paid more. A great night and a fab little restaurant.

Stayed at the Crusoe during a recent visit to Fife.

Hotel is located right on the harbour (sea view rooms look right out onto the beach) with ample parking.

Staff are exceptionally attentive and extremely helpful - nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is very good - generous portions, fresh produce, innovative menu, excellent value for money, etc, etc. Would recommend trying as you won't be disappointed. Rooms are very clean, comfy and spacious although maybe a little dated.

Will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Pay the small extra premium for a sea view - what a view!
