“Best B&B experience so-far”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2012

I have stayed at Northcraig Cottage on a number of occasions as it's convenient for Port Edgar Marina. The building is in a great location with good views across the Forth and the accommodation is clean and comfortable. Elisabeth is an excellent host who is attentive and welcoming. Service went well beyond what I was expecting and the place is miles better than similarly priced B&Bs I have visited in the area. Decent breakfast with plenty to choose from on the menu. Lots of nice little no cost extras like the biscuit box and decent tea and coffee making facilities in my room. Had lots of work to do during the evenings so the free WiFi was really handy.

The place is clean and comfortable. Elizabeth is very friendly and accommodating.
Check that Elizabeth is around for your stay though as her son won't lift a finger in her absence.
Lovely restaurant at the end of the road called The Wee Restaurant.

Just returned from two weeks in Scotland and four days at Elisabeth's B&B. She was most kind to me and went way beyond expectations in that she made arrangements to meet local historical society officials, provided rides to nearby towns, and showed me around the area. I was visiting from the US and was totally unfamiliar with the train and bus system and not too adventurous as far as taking off on my own so these rides were very much appreciated. The accommodations were very comfortable, the view was outstanding, and the breakfast wonderful. I felt very comfortable there and would definitely recommend her property. Elisabeth was very friendly and I appreciated her warmth as an individual.

My husband arranged this trip for my birthday and said that from the onset, Elizabeth, the host was superb. We stayed in a double ensuite with a stunning view of the forth road bridge. The place was spotless and there were several little touches. The bed was very uncomfortable. The B&B is actually right underneath the Forth Rail bridge, but through the night we weren't disturbed at all. Though I have to say it was particularly windy, so any train noises may have been drown out by the wind.

Location wise, we could easily walk to the local pubs and restaurants. The Ferrybridge had excellent food and service.

Breakfast was plentiful and cooked wonderfully. And again Elizabeth was a great host.

Would certainly return if we were in the area.

This place is a bit of a hidden gem which until now has escaped the clutches of Trip Advisor. It is run by a lovely lady who looks after her guests very, very well. This is not a 'five star' b and b hence the price but the rooms are modern and comfortable, the sort of place you could spend a week in. She has one en suite room and two other rooms sharing a bathroom. The uninterupted view over the Firth of Forth, North Queensferry and the Forth Road Bridge is everchanging. The only drawback is that the house is directly under the Forth Rail Bridge but we rather enjoyed the trains rumbling overhead and they finish at 11pm anyway. There is also an excellent pub and a good restaraunt in North Queensferry within walking distance and the centre of Edinburgh is not far away. What more do you need?
