DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh - Queensferry Crossing
Reviewed 21 August 2014

Located right by the Queensferry bridge over the Firth of Forth, the hotel is reasonably priced but a bit dated. Included breakfast was typical. Close to a great little restaurant called "The Wee Restaurant" is about 2/3 mile away. Cost was reasonable and staff was friendly. A errant fire alarm got us out of bed a 6 am, otherwise a good stay. Located about 15-20 minutes from EDI over the free bridge.

Room Tip: Located almost underneath the Firth bridge, select a room opposite.

Dear Al R,
Thank you for your review. I am pleased to read that you had an enjoyable stay, give or take a fire alarm - always better to be safe and evacuate than sorry, though. We are located reasonably close to the restaurant you mention, although I must point out that we do have our own restaurant in the hotel, The North Shore, which is available for snacks and meals throughout the day. We hope to see you back someday!

We had a nice stay at this hotel. Nice vieuw. Clean rooms, but as read in other revieuws the rooms need a little refurbishing. Aceept that i cant think of things that didnt meet our expectations.
Breakfast ok and enough choices but maybe a piece of bread in the morning would make it super.
Parking ok, location ok so we had a great two days there.

The staff in this hotel are all friendly and customer focused. The choices on the dinner menu could be more extensive, but the food is excellent. The views are magnificent and the car parking is more than adequate. We have been here twice now. It has changed a little, but the overall standard is really good. Good value for money and I hope the prices do not increase by too much after the refurbishment. All in all a fine comfortable hotel, well placed for the visits we made.

Lovely place to stay. Very friendly receptionist who assisted us on all queries. All staff only happy to help with anything. Our room had bridge views. As for the food I don't know why there is bad feedback because both myself and my daughter cleared our plates. Lovely meal and great service. We also had sirloin steak sandwiches for room service. Only problem with my order was that I asked for it to be cooked well done and it still had a little pink. Apart from that we had an excellent time. Definitely will consider staying again and would gladly recommend.

The planned renovation is badly needed but despite the tiredness of the building and decor, our room was spotless and staff cheerful and efficient. No doubt prices will rise following renovation but for now it is certainly excellent value for money.

Dear RoverP,
Our planned renovation has commenced, although will certainly take a fair few months for full completion as we are tackling individual areas/rooms at a time so as to cause minimum disruption for our guests. It is certainly something we are all very excited about. Thank you so much for your comments on the cleanliness of your room and cheerfulness of my colleagues, the housekeeping team are pleased to see their hard work recognised. Hope to see you back again soon!

The Queensferry Hotel was used as a base for us to work at T in the Park Festival in Kinross. The access was fantastic - with it being next to the Forth Bridge (M90) it was a perfect location. We caught a train into Edinburgh for less than £6 return and it took about 20 minutes, with a further five minute walk to the hotel through the housing estate and under the bridge.
The rooms were very sizeable and kept very clean. Staff were really friendly and willing to accommodate returning back late and even accommodating us for left overs after we misread the breakfast sign! Buffet breakfast was fantastic - wide variety and very tasty. The hotel has great views (soon to be greater when the new road bridge is completed!) and is well worth stopping in for business use or if you don't want to be based in Edinburgh. I'd definitely use this hotel again!

Room Tip: The hotel has some very long corridors, the rooms furthest away had a tendency to lose wi-fi connect...

Hi Samuel L,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a positive review for us. I am pleased that our location was of great benefit to you, particularly over the last Baldo T in the Park weekend. We do indeed have a fantastic vantage point to view the construction of the new Queensferry Crossing. I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel when you are back in the area.
