“Family friendly”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2013

Once again, we had wonderful service and excellent food on our trip. The kids love going (especially for the ice cream!) and love to eat in the hotel after a swim, it means even the large portions they are given usually disappear! Small things, such as the kids food coming out on cool plates, make such a difference to a family visit. The staff were great, especially given the trials of the previous week (snowstorms, no power, etc).

Due to bad weather and no power at home , moved inti this wonderful local hotel. This establishment is what family run community based hotels are all about. Generator providing heat, hot food and water to anyone who needs it. A great response from the Crawford family and their staff. Well done!

Stayed for 2 nights earlier this month. A friendly, relaxed atmosphere belies a well- oiled machine. They work very hard at creating the right atmosphere. Staff are friendly but not in-your-face.

The room was to the front offering view of the Kintyre peninsula and the seals! It was a basic double room with all that you need. The toilet/bathroom is a bit dated and could probably do with an upgrade but was clean and practical.

Meals were a big plus point. Okay they are not cheap but you get what you pay for and this is what matters. I had lamb then duck the following evening. Beautifully prepared and presented. My wife had mussels and then the cheese board - with plent of biscuits!

It is obviously a popular place with the locals too which adds to the atmosphere.

Good to see a family run hotel survive in these corporate times.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view as you can then watch the seals beach at their leisure.

As I had visited this hotel on previous visits to Arran, I popped into the Kinloch Hotel for lunch on Saturday and, once again, was not disappointed by the quality of food, friendly, efficient service by staff and enjoyed the wonderful views for a couple of hours.

I had a wonderful few days on Arran staying at the Kinloch Hotel and can't wait to go back again!

It is a lovely hotel which is pet friendly. I took my dog and saw a few other guests had done the same. A play on the beach right next to the hotel was enjoyed daily by my dog as well as plenty of walks around the island. It is a shame that dogs aren't allowed in any of the public areas of the hotel - some places have a dedicated area where dogs are permitted and people can enjoy drinks and/or bar food - but that would simply be a bonus for us dog lovers.

I found all of the staff, without exception, to be extremely friendly and helpful. I had dinner there every night and the food was delcious every time, as was breakfast. I had a single room which was clean and comfortable with views over the sea.

As a solo traveller it can be difficult to find hotels which either have single rooms or which do not charge a single supplement.

All in all it was a wonderful break and also proved to be good value for money. I highly recommend visiting Arran and staying at the Kinloch Hotel.

This was our 5th stay in the self catering apartments so it is about time we added a review. The apartments are huge, very comfortably furnished with well equipped kitchen areas. The views to Kintyre and even Northern Ireland are wonderful with beautiful sunsets when the weather behaves. The staff are all very welcoming and the service is always first class. We dined in the lounge bar three times this stay and the food was delicious every time. Portions are generous to say the least. The strawberry baked alaska was a major hit. The hotel is located in the centre of a picturesque village that has butcher, grocer, general store and baker all close at hand. There are seals on the rocks at the front of the hotel and the best beach on Arran is 5 minutes walk away. We will be back!

Stayed at the Kinloch for two nights as a party of 7. Apart from the high standards of service, the fab food and the great rooms and very pleasent staff, the thing that impressed me the most was the attention to detail in energy efficiency. The hotel have done a great deal to lower their Carbon Foootprint whilst not actually noticing any detremental effects in either heating or lighting requirements. Way to go, I would like to see much more of this.
