Just returned from a wonderful week at the Best Western Kinloch Hotel on Arran. Met by a cheerful receptionist who helped me recall my car registration during a "senior citizen moment" by smilingly asking what colour it was and did it have 4 wheels. The staff from start to finish were wonderfully helpful, cheerful and relaxed. We were directed to park round the back of the hotel so my elderly mother didnt have far to walk. On observing next morning that the hotel was Marmite-free, the dining-room Manager appeared 5 minutes later with a brand new jar of Marmite! Amazing. My room overlooked the sea where it was easy to pick out seals posing on rocks for photo-shoots. Since the hotel is dog-friendly, we could enjoy walks along the coastal route or directly on the beach or miles through the nearby golf course (of which there were many). En suite bathrooms with shower over the bath appear to have been recently updated. The only drawback was the rooms with walk-in shower for my elderly mother were to the back with no view. Dinner was bistro-style and no evening dress code. Again, staff amazing in that they were very willing to mix and match items on the menu to suite personal preference. Lounge was a bit dark for my mother to sit in with her paper (which isnt delivered till later in the morning off the ferry). I felt the venetian blinds could have been raised to allow in more light and the furniture chosen to resemble a lounge rather than a study. Folk made good use of the indoor swimming pool, snooker room and surrounding golf courses. A memorable holiday made more so by amazing scenery and cheerful obliging staff

Room Tip: Rooms to the front overlook the sea

Headed to the Isle of Arran on a surprise visit and walked the 11 miles from Brodick to the Kinloch Hotel in Blackwaterfoot. My surprise went down well and resulted in an unplanned overnight stay :) The staff were very accommodating and we were able to book a room, and a table for dinner at such short notice. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly, never saw a frown during my 24hour stay :) The food was amazing :) cooked to perfection and presentation was excellent.
Hotel cleanliness and maintenance here is of a high standard.

We ate here twice in the 6 days on the Island. We found the service slow, there was 4 of us and the meals were not brought out at the same time. The food was nicely cooked except the cod and chips which looked liked it had been very over cooked, the beer batter was black!!!!! We had to ask 3 times for the bread and butter and a long wait for the drinks to be brought to the table. The sea food pasta (daily special) was delicious. Staff were friendly. Ask for a window table which over looks the beautiful coastline.

Every positive review we have read we thoroughly endorse and in our experience there are no negatives. The Hotel's greatest assets are the people who work there, from reception staff through to the youngsters whose enthusiasm and passion for customer service are second to none. The food menu and daily specials offer a wide selection that will cater for most tastes - nicely cooked and well presented. A lovely atmosphere, a great location and fabulous views - we'll be back. Well done the Kinloch Hotel........

This hotel is located in a great place where looking over the water to the Kintyre Peninsula makes a calming and pleasant sight - especially when the sea-life - seals etc, make themselves known. We stayed 2 nights with our room overlooking the gardens and looking onto the sea. Comfortable rooms and beds - resulting in great sleeping conditions. The dining experience at breakfast and dinner was as to be expected high quality and very tasty. We never tasted lunch as we were always out walking. The leisure centre was also very good, fortunately for me it was not too busy and I enjoyed using the facilities all to myself. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel, The only reason I have not given it 5 stars is that at our time of staying it appeared to be in need of a fresh 'lick of paint' Note the bus passing by does not run every 5 minutes then 25 minutes, it just turns around out of sight

Room Tip: Try and get an upper floor room that over looks the sea.

We didn't stay, only ate in the hotel a couple of times. The location was amazing with views across the bay and good airings of the local seals.
The food in the restaurant was fabulous, first class for a family of 5, kids meals were massive, as were the adults. I had an amazing Arran burger that melted in the mouth & tasted fabulous.
You will not be disappointed.
