This Hotel is in a good location right opposite the Ferry terminal with lovely views of the bay of Brodick. The building has been beautifully restored and looks stunning from outside leaving you with expectations of a lovely comfortable interior. However, inside the public areas are such a disappointment. So much so that I would not consider having overnight stays as there is no comfortable bar/lounge available for guests to relax. The bar/lounge resembles a public bar with wooden tables, chairs and floor and television screens showing sport. Unfortunately apart from one sofa in a small area off the lobby this is it! This place was completely refurbished and I really thought it would be a stunning comfort zone inside - what a waste! We did dine in the Bistro restaurant which was very nice and the food was excellent as was the service and we would have liked to stay for a drink afterwards but to go and sit in the dingy bar area with men staring at television screens would just have spoiled the whole evening. Apart from eating in the restaurant would definitely not recommend to anyone wanting a nice break on Arran.

It has all the pretence of a quality restaurant, but lacks quality in both the food and the service. In drawing attention to an inedible cut of venison, the response was "I'll tell the Chef", then nothing. No replacement, no apology. Normally you can tell the quality of a place by the state of their loos. Their's were disgusting!
