First time on arran, and chose lochranza with no knowledge of area.

Campsite was lovely!! Excellent standard, toilets and showers great (some fellow campers could have helped be cleaner). Beautiful views, we had gorgeous sunsets every night! The deer are just something else, and were of no bother at all until some idiots that hadn't read the sign started feeding the!

The walk down to the castle is well worth it for a sunset!!

Campsite owners provided us with lots of info of what to do and where to visit, excellent and made our trips perfect. Little communal room was ideal, and washer dryers available if needed.

Everyone was very friendly and kids got a huge amount of freedom on this site, which adds so much to their holiday as the don't get that back home in the city.

We were encouraged to the local ceildh and had a ball, our 7yr old did every dance!! Band was great and everyone very friendly.

We would thoroughly recommend anything organised by COAST a sea life organization. Kids got to hold and learn about lots of sea life.
Highland games and farmers day were fab days out.
Castle grounds fab for kids.
Lots of lovely beaches.

Ate in some beautiful places local pub in lochranza, kildonan hotel, Glenisle hotel Lamlash, but we're disappointed with the choice at the Douglas, didn't really cater for kids.

Arran ice cream is awesome, our 5yr old still talks about it, don't miss out!!!

This camp site is just on the outskirts of Lochranza. If you leave the ferry at Lochranza having come from Claonaig, you turn left onto the A841 and head out of Lochranza towards Brodick. The site on the left has lovely views, hook ups or not as you wish. It is next to a golf course. It has amazingly good facilities including a washer and dryer, also a lounge, kettle in there, microwave, sofas, power for charging phones, and lots of information about the locality. This is very unusual for a camp site.. The microwave was useful for making hot drinks at bed time. Everything was very clean including the showers and washing up facilities... Yes, Das midge will get you when they are around but you will have to get used to them, and take action to quell the beasts with insect spray, they do impale themselves against you and your shelter/tent van. This is the countryside you are in.... There are deer all around and they visit the site, you must not feed them or else, a notice says, they become more of a nuisance looking for titbits and they will end up in burgers, apparently. They are very nosy (noisy at rut) creatures and like to know what is going on in tents and vans, so they need no encouragement...Keep your dog on a lead... Very friendly and helpful wardens and it looked like they pick the deer poo up every day, off the site to keep the ground around tents and vans clean. Overall a very good popular site..quiet at night, unless you get a noisy family in a tent behind you that scream and shout, (and parents don`t consider others), until about 10.00pm. Price reasonable.... The restaurant outside the site, is always full, in the evening and you can`t get in unless you book, and even then you can`t even book at times. There is the distillery up the road and to the left during the daytime with a cafe....

This campsite certainly lived up to its reviews. Beautiful location with mountains around you and a stream babbling in the background. The neighbours are often a herd of red deer who come and graze on the grass. We arrived during rutting season which although can be a bit noisy and must be a bit scary for anyone who doesn't know what the roars in the distance are, being able to see the stags rutting on the hills is an experience I will never forget. We saw a Golden Eagle soaring above us as well.
Very quiet and relaxing site that has very clean and well maintained shower and toilet block. The camper's room has a fridge and electric kettle as well as loads of information about the area which was very helpful. The owners Nigel and Kathy are very helpful and very discrete however always seem to know when you need a hand. Nigel very kindly gave us a jump start when the battery in our campervan went flat.
Although this campsite is in a very quiet location you can eat locally at the Stags Pavillion which is at the entrance of the site. Excellent food and service from Reno and Val. Book in advance so as no to be disappointed. The Isle of Arran distillery is also very near and does food during the day too. The Lochranza Hotel is about 15/20 mins away and if you are intending to leave late remember to have a torch with you. The range of whiskies they have is outstanding!
There is also a bus service from the distillery that can take you south to Brodick or around the west coast to Blackwaterfoot. Bus fares were reasonable too and we spent a day at Blackwaterfoot without either of us having to forgo the brilliant scenery by keeping an eye on the road.
Would love to go back to this campsite in the future.

We stayed in a campervan, we arrived quite late and left fairly early. The dish washing area is outside which is fine but if the midgey's were out it was a bit uncomfortable. The showers were nice and clean, im quite short and the showers didnt have adjustable heads which can make it difficult to rinse your hair, but nevertheless the cleanliness more than made up for that! The gentleman that runs the site was very kind and helpful. All in all, it was a brief stay, but it is a lovely clean site and we would definitely stay here again on a return visit to Arran.

First trip ever in a Motorhome. First time on Arran. Chose Lochranza Campsite out of the blue; hadn't used Tripadvisor either! The Campsite and it's guardians were completely friendly and welcoming. Great pitch with incredible views up the Glen, even saw Golden Eagle.
The cleanliness and care taken over the site, toilet facilities and laundry room was exemplary. Even though the Bank Holiday weekend was busy the standards didn't drop.
Added bonus of true Scotland was the herd of Red Deer that regularly visited the site and adjacent Golf Course!
Family Golf was superb, especially encouraging none golfers to have a go with club hire and friendly attitude.
A site obviously run and managed with passion. Perfect.

lovely campsite, with good facilities including laundry, but also with a lounge (kettle, microwave, sofas, power for charging phones, information about the locality). Very friendly and welcoming. we could not have done better. spectacular scenery, and a really delicious meal at the restaurant just outside the campsite (the Stag). We were cycling, and it was wonderful. The distillery (400 m away) runs tours and has a good shop and cafe. Its a lovely place.

Room Tip: lots of wind coming off the hills, have a tent which can cope with it.

Just back from a great 6 night stay at Lochranza Camp site (27Jul-2Aug). We are a N Irish family of 4 (2 boys 12 & 14yrs) with 2 berth camper van and family tent. First time visit to Arran (jaw-dropping scenery). Completely flat dominantly grassed camp set at foot of beautiful glen on the road to the Lochranza shore( 5 mins to Kintyre ferry). Met by very pleasant and attentive hosts (Kathy & Nigel). Gave us choice of a few hook-up pitches and let us pick. Site pleasantly full yet felt roomy and atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed. Nice age mix of UK and European campers. Thought everyone was waving at us but soon discovered they were testing kung fu swings on the dreaded midge. Not long before we slapped on the Avon Skin so Soft (recommended). Only way to cope is mind over midge and accept they are every bit as native to Scotland as the mountains and the flat sausages. Scored many brownie points from my boys when they could stroll from the tent door on to a great wee golf course (complete with roaming herd of red deer). Wife very pleased with warm showers and clean loos (free hair dryer an added plus). Good few sinks with 24hr hot water for dishes. Great place to meet fellow travellers and chat. Another great feature of the site was the brilliant resources (maps, info and tips) displayed in the Campers' Room. Obviously owners who know visitors/campers needs. WiFi very reasonable charge (compared to some other sites) and reception but can drop out when many are on line. Heartily recommend bike trip over to Skipness on Kintyre (brilliant wee fish restaurant/cafe serving good range of local produce).Weather mostly sunny (fantastic sunsets) but watch out for tendency for katabatic winds spilling off the surrounding hills (had to run to the aid of a few wannabe kite-tents) but that's part of the outdoor fun (dealing with the elements). Would most definitely return to Arran and make Lochranza our base. NOTE: Please sign Kath & Nigel's petition against the levelling/widening of the spectacular road between Pirnmill and Catacol (features like this make Arran what it is .....worth the trip). The 4Js.
