“A well worth while facelift”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

Apart from the exceptional Gansey Bay location where if the sea spray isn't crashing excitingly on the retaining wall the ducks are waddling in the endless untropical sunshine and sand. A major bar and restaurant facelift has brought comfort, sofas and the 21st century to what has always been decent Guinness and Okells and free wifi. Well done!

“good lunch destination by the sea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2013

Well located, directly facing the sea and equidistant between Castletown, Port Erin and Port St Mary on the Isle of Man. I enjoy the 90 minute walk from Castletown along the coastal path (Raad ny Foillan), have a good lunch and return on the bus which stops right outside (check times - only one per hour). Excellent hand-pulled beer (Bushey's) and a good wine list.
Long food menu and a varied specials board.

“Fantastic customer service but very plain menu”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013

Firstly I must say how helpful and friendly the staff are. They are a real credit to the place. However, The Shore Hotel right on the seashore conjures up the thought of fantastic seafood but this really did not feature in any shape or form. The food we did have was from a rather unadventurous menu and was fine, but that was all. Reasonably priced but personally I did not consider it lived up to the reviews preceding this.

“Great food with excellent service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 September 2013

We were recommended to visit this restaurant by our landlady in Port Erin and it certainly delivered the goods and we returned for the second night of our stay. Do not be put off by the exterior of the Hotel as it belies what is hidden inside. It is in a wonderful position on the Shore Road leading to Castletown and there are lovely west facing sea views from whichever table you happen to sit at, even if not by the windows. Nice cosy decor - modern but very comfortable and welcoming.
The food was excellent - in particular the famous local queenies in a wonderful sauce served with rice. Ample portions too. On our second visit we had an equally delicious sea bass dish - again from the "dishes of the day" board. All food was served piping hot and with very little waiting time - thank you Chef.
Special commendation for delivery of service must be given to Mark 4 (to distinguish him from the other 3 Marks!) who had only been working there for a few weeks but what an asset. Booking recommended as it is not a big restaurant and gets very busy on account of its good well deserved reputation. Thank you to all staff for terrific service and brilliant food.
