We came to the Isle of Man for our anniversary and chose Aaron House because it looked different and a bit quirky. We arrived early (just around midday owing to our flight time) and were very warmly welcomed with tea and cake and our room was ready for us in no time.
Aaron house is a beautiful house and very comfortable and quiet - just the sound of waves. We stayed in the top front room which is lovely and has a small sofa in the bay window looking out over the sea. It also has a bath with a selection of lovely, organic toiletries. Our hosts were very friendly and we were provided with freshly baked cakes twice a day (!) and also some of their own chocolates. The breakfasts were just great - so many really tasty things to choose from, including delicious poached plums and rhubarb, home-made bread, pancakes and with the comfort and warmth of a lit fire, too. They pride themselves on using the best ingredients and this really shows - one of the best breakfasts I have ever had.
Port St Mary is a quiet place. We had good meals at the Indian and the Italian restaurant and a quick lunch in the Patchwork cafe (recommend this). Just a few minutes down the road is the station for the steam train which we took to Douglas and also the bus stop to the Calf of Sound which is beautiful and definitely should not be missed. We were on public transport but got around the island just fine.
We very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Aaron House - truly exceptional service and welcome, very comfortable room, very friendly hosts and a sense they they really want to go out of their way to give you a great stay with them.
