We stayed for five nights at this wonderful place. We had the Crichton room which was beautiful with a lovely view over the front of the garden. Breakfast in the peaceful conservatory with the lovely garden to look out on was a truly lovely start to our days. We stayed for five nights and Ruth was the most lovely hostess you could wish to have. Nothing is too much trouble for her and the food was delicious with more than generous portions! There are a lot of "little touches" in this Guest House which make it special, so it is difficult to pick them all out, but definitely it's main attraction is Ruth herself. I only worry about boosting this place too much is that she may put the prices up and we wont be able to afford it next time! Thank you Ruth for a truly lovely week.

Room Tip: Only saw the one room, but can definitely reccomend it. The biggest and most comfortable bed I have...

We stayed three nights over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. We booked quite late and I was concerned if there would be any availability but when I rang Ruth she opened a new room - the Crichton room overlooking the front of the house - a spacious room with ensuite bathroom.

I agree with the praise from the other reviewers - if only other B&Bs were as good at what was a reasonable price.

If you're interested in viewing gardens its worth staying here for just that reason - there are multiple gardens and as you walk from one you enter another with a slightly different character - see review - http://www.scotsman.com/scotland-on-sunday/scotland/gardens-mount-ceres-is-tranformed-from-wilderness-to-beautiful-garden-rooms-1-2373799

Room Tip: Try to get the Crichton room if its available

My son and I were attending a wedding nearby on May 11th so we booked two rooms for two nights at this lovely house. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and both rooms were extremely comfortable. The house is large and very nicely decorated and the extensive gardens are quite beautiful ... obviously a labour of love. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of juices, smoothies, cereals, fruits and of course "the full Scottish". Everything we could possibly want was provided and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mount Ceres.

I stayed at Mount Ceres for one night mid week whilst on a business trip to Edinburgh. Best B&B I have been too. Stunning house and the bedroom was amazing - large, airy and a wonderful bathroom. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. For me, it is always the little extras that make you feel so at home, so the basket of toiletries in the room just incase i'd forgotten anything was lovely.

The owner was warm and welcoming and nothing was too much bother. She even got me veggie sausages for breakfast! Breakfast served in the conservatory overlooking the garden. And what a garden! It is worth a visit just to see what the owners have done with it!

Breakfast was amazing with fresh fruit, cereal, toast, cooked breakfast, fresh juice, yoghurts.....you certainly wont be disappointed.

This B&B puts hotels to shame - try it, you'll love it! I am certainly going back.

Room Tip: Chose any - all are good!

Outstanding B&B.
Lovely grounds and big cheery rooms. Elegant breakfast room.
Nice breakfast.
Wonderful and helpful owner who has thought of and provided everything. Upscale bed, bedding and ensuite bathroom (like a 5 star hotel).
Close walk to direct bus into Edinburgh.
You must stay here. Excellent value.

Beautiful, quiet residential location with amazing gardens. Ruth made us welcome and looked after us so well. Rooms were spacious and well equipt with quality furniture and linen. Breakfast was well cooked with a great choice, something for everyone. Edinburgh was just a bus ride away so no driving or parking worries. Would return in a heartbeat.

We stayed here in early May in the Melville Room. The guest house is in a lovely quiet location but close to Edinburgh, the ring road and is only a couple of miles from Straiton Park where you can find Ikea, M&S, Sainsburys etc. There is private parking and the house itself is wonderful. Clean and spacious rooms with excellent on-suite, large TV and just about anything else you could want. Ruth was lovely, very welcoming and accommodating. She provided us with an excellent breakfast and we were very fortunate with the weather and enjoyed our breakfast in the conservatory looking out over the beautiful gardens. Couldn't rate this higher and we are looking forward to making a return to Mount Ceres later this year. Don't hesitate to book here you won't be disappointed!
