My Wife and I have traveled to the Edinburgh area of Scotland several times in the past few years. We always look forward to eating at the Laird & Dog Restaurant. The food is well seasoned and they serve large portions at a fair price. It is clean and the staff have always been courteous and helpful.

Would have loved to have gave the laird and dog a decent review, but i cant, myself my husband and 3yr old granddaughter went here last week,we ordered chicken stuffed with haggis the steak pie and the childs cheese and tomatoe pizza.Husband enjoyed his, mine worringly came 5 minutes after i had ordered this very large piece of chicken and had clearly been pre cooked before hand, the sides were rock solid and frazzeled chips hard,if they had come to me once i had ordered chicken and said with cooking this fresh it would be a longer wait is this ok that would have been not a problem to me,but clearly the chef thinks by cooking all things first this leads to disaster in the kitchen...Granddaughters cheese and tomatoe pizza should be pretty much straight forward you would think...wrong,this pale thing was so thin we could not cut it for her it just shredded on the plate, safe to say we refused to pay for chicken or pizza there was no arguement just an acceptance, got the feeling that this happened alot...dreadfull dreadfull dreadfull.......sack the chef, pay decent money for a good one, stick on your menus that there will be a wait on all things cooked fresh, and this place stands a chance,if not the laird and dog wont be long before closing down

Have been to the laird and dog many times over the years but after today's experience will never be back. Ordered drinks and had to ask 3 times for them. Ordered haggis neeps and tatties and it was absolutely disgusting. Haggis had horrible large chewy bits through it. I have no idea what they were and quite frankly dont want to know. I complained and to be fair they did not charge me for the haggis. When bill came we had been overcharged for drinks. Ladies toilet was awful. Really dated and two old towels to supposedly dry your hands on. Lots of serious problems to be rectified in this establishment. Such a shame.
