Sorry to be a bit morbid but the truth is, sadly my mother passed away. As per usual one looks for a nice place to have the after ''drinks and food''. I had phoned a few local places and to be honest they just did not seem to want the business. The Original hotel however was simply so helpful, and understanding at the time of booking. The manager simply could not have been more helpful with various suggestions. The food was exceptional, and the sandwiches very fresh with substantial fillings of a varied nature. The staff could not have been nicer. Overall delighted. It simply could not have been any better.

Very good food in comfortable hotel bar. Will visit again. Did not stay at the hotel so cannot comment on the rooms. The hotel is close to Rosslyn Chapel and a lovely Caravan Club certificated location.

I loved my four day visit at the Original Roslin Hotlel in December just before holidays. Friendly, attentive service, great food, (the best mac and cheese ever!), also loved the fish and chips, but all the dishes were delicious, excellent location, comfortable beds, pleasant rooms. Enjoyed evenings at pub and restaurant. Nice, friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend this B&B for its charming small village atmosphere.

From start to finish our stay at this hotel has been first class. The staff could not have been any more attentive and helpful the food is excellent and good value for money. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels and cruise ships and this is easily on a par with these. I am writing this review whilst sitting in the hotel using their free wi- fi which is available.

We have just returned from a most enjoyable one night stay at this village inn. To be honest we were a bit concerned about some of the reviews. We can only comment on the room that we stayed in (room 3), which was very clean with an exceptionally comfortable 4 poster bed with an additional single bed in room. It had a good sized bathroom with bath and shower over. Water was piping hot. It overlooked the village road to the front but we had no problems with noise. The inn itself was what it is supposed to be - a traditional village inn - if you want 5 star luxury book a 5 star hotel in Edinburgh for twice the price. If you want a clean friendly hotel with the choice of a local bar, or a very clean and very comfortable lounge bar with high backed leather chairs and settees choose this lovely inn. We chose to eat in the lounge bar, but the Grail restaurant was also available, the food was very reasonable, huge portions, and absolutely lovely, served with a smile and quickly. Breakfast was equally as good, with amusingly titled breakfast choices! We commented on how nice it would be to stay here if we wanted to visit Edinburgh, the bus stop is outside of the hotel, or the park and ride is available approx 2 miles up the road. Personally we think it would be lovely to do shopping/sightseeing in Edinburgh and come back to the peace of the inn on the evening.

There is another hotel/bar over the road. We very much enjoyed our walk after breakfast down to Roslyn Chapel. The whole village seemed immaculate, all the gardens were nicely maintained, and the walks around the chapel were lovely, made all the better by the beautiful sunshine on the day. We would have no hesitation to recommend this Village Inn.

Room Tip: Ask for a bath as we did and you may get a 4 poster room.

They say that getting married is one of the most stressful events in your life. Not if you do it at The Original Roslin Inn. Me and my partners were married here on Saturday 1st September 2012 and it was perfect. Not only did we have our meal and the disco here we also got married in the hotel too. Everything was perfect. The whole event ran like clock work. We had the cerermont in the conservatory. The landscaped gardens in the back are a real find and perfect for photos. Many of our guests were blown away by how lovely the garden was. The meal was fabulous. No easy feat for a function catering for 50 guests. The disco was a blast and the evening buffet amazing.

This is an old hotel, so lots of interesting steps and levels to find your way around. No lift and rather tired in places, but we had a good room with a comfortable four poster bed. The shower was a challenge and the toilet seat loose, so a bit more maintenance is in order. We had a good meal in the restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful. Over the road from another pub but quiet from mid-evening.
