“always worth a visit”

I absolutely love that place. I a real find in the area. There are so many lovely posters and decorations that create a special atmosphere! The system of how to get a table didnt really work out - maybe because it was new in place? Great selection of cakes and lovely soup!

Thank you for your recent review and I am so glad you enjoy coming to Logie Steading. Aspects of organisation at the café are still shaking down and we hope to have it working perfectly in the next week or so!

“Longest wait ever”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

Frequently visit The Olive Tree for lunch as food and service always good, unfortunately yesterday's visit was not a good one!! Waited 20 minutes to be served as only one lady taking orders and also making teas and coffees in between each customer! Then a 50 minute wait for sandwiches and soup!!! Waitresses everywhere carrying one bowl of soup at a time and as one young waitress walked passed our table chatting to her friend she said "I can't be bothered with this" not great to hear? Don't know what happened yesterday but everything appeared very unorganised. Also the plough mans was very poor, 3 tiny slices of bread and 3 bits of cheese with a few onions and chutney thrown in, not the usual for The Olive Tree.

Thank you for writing about your recent visit and I am so sorry that your experience in the café was so very unsatisfactory. The move to the larger premises has come with challenges which, as you rightly point out, need to be addressed. That Saturday was awful - the combination of kitchen staff having to leave through ill health, and too large a proportion of new staff being in place meant that the weaknesses were all exposed. The only silver lining to the cloud of dissatisfied customers is that improvements will now definitely be made!

“Great place -- but not for lunch!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

We have visited The Steading on many occasions, always taking guests we have saying with us. It has always been a lovely day out and we have always enjoyed a bite to eat while there. Until today. The new Steading layout is lovely, all the businesses are great. The new restaurant, however, compared to before, not so. We had a shocking time, as did our fellow lunchers. Such a shame. The food was fine, when we finally received it (two tables beside us said they had waited an hour, and then left) but you seriously need to sort out your service or you will not last. You lost business while we were there. Even after I had spoken to a member of staff, giving my feedback, nothing at all was done about it. Big shame.
The farm and garden shop, on the other hand, is at the other end of the spectrum! So helpful and knowledgable. A fabulous aray of plants (of which we have purchased many over the years).
You have a fabulous facility, in a fabulous location. It's a shame to have one business there take down the whole place.

“a bad day perhaps”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

Took some friends for lunch at Logie today (24th May). Haven't been for a while, but had heard good reports. Got there, got in, found table, got in short queue, waited for an age, grew a bit older, gave order, sat down, grew older, cafe got a bit busier, food arrived, got disappointed. My lamb burger was incinerated, our guests fish cakes weren't much better. Oh well we thought. Got back to counter to pay, got in short queue, grew a bit older, finally got to pay! Went for walk, came back to cafe for coffee and cakes. Coffee best I've had in ages, but hardly any cakes. Not a good advert today for the cafe. On the plus side the plants and staff in the nursery were brilliant. Will go again for plants, but not food

“Cafe service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

60 minute wait for sandwiches for three unacceptable. No one on the staff seemed to care or apologise for the delay. An offer of top ups for tea and coffee would have been appropriate but not forthcoming. From looking at recent reviews this has been a problem for some time which you have not addressed. Cannot recommend. Cafe experience seriously detracts from an otherwise good facility.
