We stopped off in Forres for a 2pm lunch, and the first place we tried said they stopped serving at 1.30! Next place was the Carlton Hotel, which was a typical Scottish pub, with tartan on the walls and claymores and shields here and there. 2 TVs on, a cricket match, but not too loud.
Good choice of main dishes at 2 for £10. We had 2 scampi, a steak pie and a macaroni cheese. Cheery service though a little slow, all nicely served and very tasty. Only white wine by the glass was chardonnay, so we had red - it was OK.
