Enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal at the Ramnee last weekend. The staff were all very welcoming and extremely helpful. The decor in the function suite is lovely and has a stunning view. Our meal was served very efficiently, was all very hot and so delicious. The entire evening was perfect and prices were very reasonable considering the beautiful venue and amazing food. Definitely worth a visit.

Located in a heart-achingly, picturesque area in Northern Scotland, The Ramnee hotel was originally a town house built around 1907. As such, it's rooms were not designed to be those of a hotel with en suite bathrooms. This has resulted in small rooms, even the suite was small in comparison to most hotel suites.

The rooms are clean with natural light streaming in through the large sash windows. For those afraid of the windows not being able to cope with harsh winter weather, there are thick, luxurious curtains that will keep the draughts out.

The en-suite bathroom of our suite was tired looking, dimly lit and the decor made it look a little dingy even though it was perfectly clean. The large bath/shower took a large amount of the area and I believe that removing the bath a installing a dedicated shower unit would make it more appealing and allow more space.

That notwithstanding, all of those small points pale into insignificance when you experience the warmth and friendliness of the staff. I can honestly say that I have never stayed in a hotel where I felt so welcome. The staff are fantastic and make the hotel what it is. Well, partly.

The food is exquisite. The chefs should all be awarded Michelin stars; the food was a gastronomic dream with each dish perfectly presented and delightfully delicious. In fact, the hotel is full during the evening as people travel from miles around to experience the food.

I have never experienced such friendly and warm staff. Not the fake warmth of employees who are doing their jobs, but the genuine warmth of friendly staff willing to help you in any way they can. The room was the small downside but this subjective fault is overshadowed by all the positive points.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit the area. Even if you don't stay there, you must experience the food. I cannot wait until my next visit in a few months time!

Room Tip: You win either way, the lovely garden view or a view over the bay.

First time staying here. It is a nice Hotel with class and charm, it does need a little updating in some of the bedrooms. All the staff are really nice. The bar meal was good. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Close to the town centre.
Would stay here again if I was in the area.
Quite a few attractions near here for a pleasant trip. Will need a car to get around.
Thanks to all.

Delightful hotel in Moray where you are made to feel like family. Restaurant has superb food and Peter the head barman is a delightful conversationalist. Daily specials are not to be missed. We always have a great meal and time when we are there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the back gardens away for Victoria Road

I booked in here after reading reviews and looking at pictures it looked lovely.
When I arrived the girl behind reception although on the phone, never once looked up or acknowledged me. She then put the person on hold and asked for a colleague to come through and peak to me, still not speaking or making eye contact. So not a great start, her colleague was a lot friendlier.
My room was very disappointing. So dated and dark and really not very clean.
There really is nothing positive to say about the room or the bathroom which was cheap and old.
The bed was very soft and lumpy and not comfortable at all.
One saving grace for the stay was the breakfast, which was served by a great member of staff who could be lovelier and the breakfast itself was first class, as was the coffee.
I have worked in a four star hotel and know what standards and offerings are needed to meet this and this hotel falls well below this standard. Needs updating to justify the four stars.

Our group has visited the Ramnee Hotel for an annual evening dinner for over 25 years, which in itself is testament to enduring high standards. This year, the meal was of high quality and the portions were exactly right. The service was swift, polite and cheerful and the chef provided good alternatives for those with special dietary needs. The wines were not expensive and complemented the food perfectly. Overall, our evening was excellent value for money.
