“Wow nondescript cafe with great sea food”
Reviewed 27 May 2014 via mobile

We saw the trip advisor reviews for this place so dropped in. It's a very plain looking green shed but serves fresh seafood esp 'Scottish' seafood dishes (Cullen Skink, Herring, Haddock). Half lobster £7.50 and platter of fresh seafood only £14. Also fresh whole lobster for &10.

Plenty of cakes and scones and jam if you just want morning/afternoon tea.

Great spot.

“Excellent Cullen Skink”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

Been twice, both times the flavours of the Cullen Skink were excellent. First visit was lunchtime and good service with lovely big bowl of steaming soup. Second visit mid-afternoon, was advised would be few minutes while soup was heated. Arrived cold. Staff were good and quickly warmed it up. Disappointing was cold to begin with, but felt had been rushed out. Would still go back since mistakes always possible and was well handled by staff.

“Would highly recommend especially the seafood buffet evening!”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

Have been here for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. However we managed to book into the seafood evening this past Saturday and I have to say the whole experience was great!!! The selection of seafood was amazing, atmosphere was buzzing, staff and customer service great too. My favourites were the lobster and langoustines followed by Janice's homemade meringues for dessert. Excellent value for money but make sure you book well in advance as you might end up on the waiting list.

“The fresh lobsters and crab are as good as you'll get anywhere”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

This is a very popular café, especially with locals. The fresh sea food is caught by the proprietor's partner and you won't get better. The food is all home made and simply delicious. Unlike most cafe's you have to order the food at the counter and either pick up your tea, coffee, soup etc, there or items requiring more preparation will be brought to your table. Most locals grab a table before ordering as the café can get very busy at any time. They do occasional evening buffets on a Saturday evening and they are nearly always fully booked. It is located near the lighthouse outside of the town so does need the use of a car to get there.
