“Fantastic waitress ”
Reviewed 22 January 2014 via mobile

We dinned at Dakota this evening and our first impressions were very welcoming! We got shown straight through to our table which was a lovely round table with a good atmosphere. Our waitress Laura came over and introduced herself, she was very happy and welcoming, a joy to be served by! She took out order by memory which was impressive and did not miss one thing. Our food was outstanding, beautiful starters and mains and the deserts were to die for. Laura was very attentive and hard working, with a smile always! Nothing was too much trouble! This made our evening an enjoyable experience and will look forward to coming back. Please pass this feedback onto her and make sure she gets praised by management

Check in was friendly but no information about breakfast, when bar meal start finish! Where to go for the bar. Only thing we were asked is if we wanted to book a table for dinner as 9.30 was the first available. We declined as we felt 9.30 a little late and when you are away on a leisurely overnight, making plans to have dinner wastby really what we wish to do. We went to our room, the room was nice but very dust around mirror and lamp.my fiancee hung his jacket in the wardrobe and when he removed it, it had dust all over it. There was also urine stains on the toilet and strong smell of urine! We went down to the bar for a drink and to try get something to eat. We asked for menus to get something to eat, were told bar meals finished at 6, so we didn't have long to pick something and order. As I'm vegetarian there was nothing on the menu I could eat. I then went to bar and asked if they did anything vegetarian and was promptly brought out a separate vegetarian menu. The bar staff were very friendly and a credit to the hotel. Food was lovely. We didn't have breakfast in the morning as we didn't know what time it was or where to go. There was no book in the room to tell you any information about bar Times, breakfast Times, thing nearby! I have never stayed in a hotel that gives out so little information, if I hadn't asked about vegetarian option we would have had to go out with the hotel to find some where to eat. Bar staff are friendly and a credit to the hotel but we wouldn't stay again due to so little information.

This was our 3rd visit to Dakota. It did not disappoint. The food is fantastic, the monkfish curry is one of the best dishes I have tried. The service is great with very friendly professional staff.

Stayed previously and had a great stay, enjoyed with a few cocktails.

Can't wait to go back.

Simple to find and really well located for my needs, this hotel looked fantastic from the moment you walked through the door. To the low lighting, wood panelled bar with real fires, I had really high hopes. The check in staff were very welcoming and efficient and I was soon checked into my executive room.

I didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment but did have a drink in the bar which was a cosy place to while away an hour or so. Anyway, back to the bedroom; I can't quite see how it earned its executive status at a not inconsiderable price tag. The bed was massive and comfortable but there was no separate seating area with just a dressing table and chair. The bathroom can best be described as being modelled on a caravan, everything from the sink to the shower to the toilet seat was plastic. And is it unreasonable to expect an executive room to have a bath?

Overall, mixed results for me. If you were visiting the hotel to eat and not stay the night then all those boxes are well ticked but if you are used to a certain standard of hotel (porcelain bathroom furniture!) then probably best to try somewhere in town where there is plenty of choice for a top quality hotel.

Well worth it!!
I recently purchased the 'Friday at Dakota' deal for my boyfriend’s birthday. All I can say about it is; it was a steal of a deal!!!!
Excellent service from booking. The week of my booking I was emailed by the reception staff recommending me to book a table for the dinner that was partially included in the deal (£20p/p towards dinner) just in case it was busy.
On arrival we were greeted by a happy, polite and chatty member at the reception staff who ran through everything we would need to know for example where to go for dinner, where to go for breakfast, when breakfast is available and also where we would get the cocktails that were included in our deal.
Dinner was superb. Again the staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was delicious.
The appearance of the hotel was very modern and clean. It has a lovely calm & relaxed atmosphere.
I would highly recommend

Like its sister hotel in Queensferry, near Edinburgh, this hotel looks like a big black lego brick from a distance, but inside it is beautifully and tastefully decorated and has a very warm welcoming feel about it. Maybe that was just the big flame-fire that adorns the middle of the reception and restaurant area.
The reception and general seating area ihas dimmed lighting and the docor is deliberately and tastefully quite dark, with lots of very comfortable seats.
The service is superb and the food was great too.
The rooms are a bit unexpectedly odd but are very quirky and you soon get used to them, They are just unconventional but really well thought-out and quite spacious.
I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are travelling or if you are on business. You'll definiely get a good night's sleep.
The hotel is only a few hundred yards off the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh (much nearer Glasgow than Edinburgh).
Outwith the hotel there is nothing as it's in an industrial estate (that sounds bad but it's not as the business around are well away from the hotel).

We only used the restaurant facilities for a leisurely Sunday Lunch. The service was excellent and the food good though a bit over priced as were the drinks. Restaurant was not busy probably due to it being early January. Well located just off the M8 with loads of parking.
