“Excellent! Friendly, helpful staff.”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

I recently stayed at the Dakota for business and used one of their conference rooms to run a two-day training session.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and has a very welcoming feel. The staff are extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Nothing is to much trouble and even though my stay was during the Commonwealth Games and the hotel was packed, the staff always managed to smile and be accommodating, however trivial the request.

The rooms are clean, well appointed, extremely comfortable and very well designed. I slept extremely well. The bathroom has a rain shower, which is lovely.

There was an excellent selection at breakfast of fresh fruits, meats and cheeses and of course full cooked breakfast. I was really pleased that the hotel could provide porridge, which I eat every morning.

I ate in the restaurant one evening and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The staff were incredibly welcoming and very attentive and the meal was delicious. I especially enjoyed the lemon tart!

I can definitely recommend this hotel and would most definitely stay here again. Thank you for a really enjoyable stay.

One of my favourite hotels in the UK. My kids absolutely love it. We're a family of 4 and always get the corner rooms with interconnecting doors. Gives the kids some space (and my wife and I some peace...). The staff are fantastic, friendly and always helpful. Restaurant is great as well with good choice and reasonable prices. We're heading to the north of Scotland later in August and plan to stay again to break up the journey. Highly recommended.

We stayed here in a Saturday night after our wedding reception. We were looking for somewhere near our venue to stay overnight and this was the one we went for. We didn't book into a honeymoon suite and just opted for a room.
The staff were very helpful and let us take our bags up the day before and put them in the room for us. This was the biggest worry for us as we thought we would have to go that morning drop things off but it was stress free.

We arrived at 1am and the receptionist was friendly and pleasant. He checked us in and got us a glass of champagne. We then went to our room which was beautiful. Rose petals were on the bed in the shape of a love heart and chocolate strawberries were left, alongside a lovely note from the staff at Daokta to wish us all the best in our wedding.

We were completely overwhelmed by the treatment we received at the Dakota and were just expecting a overnight stay with no thrills. It was a pleasant surprise to have the added extras thrown in by the hotel.

The room was lovely, bed was comfortable and big and the shower was great. The decor of the room is beautiful and the hotel is self is rather dark but it really adds to things.

Would certainly book the Dakota for any other occasions and would recommend it to others thinking of staying for a special occasion or for a break away.

The location itself may seem odd but it's close to Glasgow with just a twenty minute drive.

Room Tip: If you are booking it for a wedding or special ocassion email the hotel to let them know. Really doe...

From the moment you enter the reception aea this hotel is lovely. Modern, trendy decor throughout. The room was very comfortable with some nice touches particular to the Dakota hotel chain which was a surprise. Staff were brilliant and very attentive. We ate in the restuarant and the food was lovely. At breakfast you are spoiled for choice. Definitely worth the money especially if you book a Friday or Sunday night just now on their special offers. Would highly recommned for an overnight although it is not in the most glamarous setting - a business park - once you are through the door you will forget all about this. There is also an onsite Gym which guests are free to use.

Room Tip: All rooms seem very much alike and there is two sets of glazing one on the room and there is a secon...

Apart from the fact that it's in the middle of nowhere, I couldn't fault this hotel really in any area. The staff were more than friendly and helpful (they got the balance right - anymore 'cheery' and it would have come across as fake) The public areas were modern and, dare I say it, a little on the superficial side given the surrounding areas....!
The bed was comfortable and of a good size, the power-shower was great (so many times this can make or break a hotel stay for many a weary traveller), and the rooms were stylish (while not over the top modern) and fully air conditioned. This was a bonus given that the Glasgow area was experiencing near tropical levels of heat at around 24 degrees when I stayed! When I arrived, there were freshly baked, deliciously chewy, chocolate chip cookies waiting in the room - while not always devoured immediately, the thought is nice.
Everything was spotlessly clean, and I mean spotless. The bathroom surfaces even passed the 'credit card' test.
The restaurant/bar/breakfast facilities were fine too. The menu was both plentiful and of a reasonable value - again this may go back to the location of the hotel, as you can only charge the going rate within a given market place. Even hotels who aspire to have higher than average sleeper/diner ratios still rely on local business too.
I always maintain it's the little things that make a good stay better, and this hotel does that as well as ticking all the right boxes.

Overall verdict = A
Location (or lack of it) is key!

Come on lets enjoy your good weather with some tables and chairs outside it's you big event the CWG and we are stuck inside very depressing.

The staff are all top class and very helpful though it is a very dark hotel and spoils the stay for me as I just want to get out of it every night to eat else where.

So you are missing my spend every night the menu is also very limited.

Room Tip: It's is a nice hotel though missing some key factors Have a high room though all rooms are very...
