“Little bit of luxury”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 via mobile

Lovely place to catch up with friends over a coffee in very plush surroundings. There is a choice of seating areas but it can be very busy with business meetings etc. overall easy to get to and from and would recommend for a catch up

Anticipated this Hotel would be out on a business park but not knowing the area at the time of booking, was surprised to learn just how far away from other civilisation it was. Fine if you want to eat at the Hotel too but it was a bit pricey and not the style of food we wanted that evening.
I recognised the interior style as familiar and so learnt of its connection to Aviator (which is a stunning hotel).
The rooms here are lovely and modern, great style. A little surprised to find synthetic fabric sink rather than porcelain? But otherwise, lovely.
We ate at the restaurant attached to a Premier Inn some ten minutes drive away, which was pretty good, great value.
Breakfast wasnt included in our deal and we declined as it was pricey, not unexpectedly tho.
I think the lighting in the reception area could be upped somewhat. With the curtain that you have to go through from the outside doors, it gives the impression of entry to a nightclub rather than a Hotel...must be a nightmare for reception staff. Would I stay here again? certainly if I needed to be in that location but not just for the sake of the Hotel.

Room Tip: I can only say that we had rooms on the 2nd floor and they were perfectly fine.

My husband and I stayed at the Dakota for a week during the Commonwealth Games.( July 27th - August 3rd) An unfortunate accident meant that we needed to change to a disabled room. This was not a problem at all and the room provided me with all the facilities I needed. (one slight quibble was that the bathroom floor remained rather slippery when damp)
The hotel was perfect for our needs and the room provided us with excellent comfort. The bed was large and very comfortable with the best cushions ever! Towels and toiletries were of a high standard and house keeping was quick and efficient.
We ate at the hotel several times and thought the food was excellent.. Breakfasts are definitely to be recommended. Our only criticism is with regard to room service and service generally .We had room service twice, once at lunch and once in the evening and on both occasions there were very big errors. Service in the dining room and bar also tended to veer from super/too quick ...dinner, and quite slow.....bar. However, these are fairly minor niggles, and the staff were all friendly and helpful, even the lady who arrived at a disabled room with lunch, but without means of access!
Once we got used to the quirky lighting we loved the Dakota and would certainly recommend it. We look forward to staying there again.

We stayed for 1 night during the Commonwealth games. The hotel is still close to Glasgow but was not overpriced, as many Glasgow hotels were. The hotel is very trendy, like a New York loft. Staff were all really friendly. The cocktails were lovely. Getting fresh cookies delivered to your room was quite a novelty. I would highly recommend this hotel & will defo be returning.

My son and I stayed here for one night during the commonwealth games. The hotel was lovely, welcoming and trendy. The room was a good size with a decent bed which had the most enormous cushion in it, which my son thought was great! Everything was provided, cleaned and very good condition. Breakfast was served early enough so we could catch the park and ride shuttle to the games the following morning. There was a wide range for the continental breakfast which you helped yourself too and then you could order a hot breakfast from a selection. Really enjoyed stating here and would recommend it to anyone, couples, families or individuals travelling alone.

We stayed here for 3 nights during the Commonwealth Games 2014. One of the best experiences I have had in a hotel in a long time. Being greeted at reception with a homemade glass of lemonade was very welcoming after a long journey. We stayed in a superior double which was a good size with a large bed. Double glazing was very good and we did not hear the road at all. After a busy day at the games it was a pleasure to get back and sink into the plush sofas in the lounge and enjoy a glass of Champagne. Bar menu burger was one of the best I have had and not too pricey. Behind the hotel is a Citylinkair bus stop with buses every 30 mins into Buchannan Street (£5.60 return approx.). The staff really excelled themselves with our numerous request which included looking after our haggis in their fridge for the whole stay. The area is very quite as it is surrounded by offices (half of which are empty) but the whole estate is beautifully landscaped with cascading water falls everywhere! I will definitely stay here again when next in the area. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for 2 nights to enjoy the Commonwealth Games July/Aug 14. Super trendy looking hotel. First impressions were excellent. Lovely lobby/bar area with nice sofas and big cushions to relax on with a cocktail.

Check in was quick and easy and we were given room 311. The assistant did block out £100 on my debit card though, just for the privilege of staying here which I thought was a bit strange. The room was spotless/spacious and a big high 5 to the hotel for offering free wifi. And wifi that I was able to stream games footage effortlessly from as well. This is a big plus point for me.

The bed had an enormous cushion on which was handy for relaxing on to watch the TV. Tea/coffee faculties/iron/ironing board/toiletries /hair dryer etc, all the usual things you would expect in a hotel of these standard.

The bathroom was spotless and had a really good shower. Plenty of fresh towels supplied and everything in good working order.

The room was tastefully decorated, modern and the bed comfortable. I can't comment on the food in the grill but the cocktails were very good. All in all I would recommend this hotel, the only down side of it is it's in a rather remote location. There are no places to walk to on an evening as it is in a business park. It was however perfect for us a base to reach the games venues!
