We had visited this hotel for morning coffee and then, on anothe day for lunch. On both occasions the food was good, served by very smart friendly capable Staff.
We booked at table for dinner for another evening. When we arrived the two young very inexperienced Staff could not find the reservation, however we did get a table. We decided to try the a la carte menu. The somewhat scruffily dressed waiter seemed to have little knowledge of the disappointnig wine list, his more smartly dressed companion proved little better.
We ordered roast lamb, imagining that, on an island famous for its sheep, it would be a good choice. The meat was disgusting. It consisted of ready prepared, precooked, sliced, ready to be heated, tasteless grey slices surrounded by a very strange liquid. The only blessing was that this liquid was also devoid of taste but had an unpleasant slime like consistency.
I complained about the meat and our waitress said that she would inform the chef. After this she ignored us,as did the waiter. After a very long wait we received the bill without any apology or explanation. Then followed another long wait to pay, before we went to the bar. Our money was accepted and both members of staff carefully avoided eye contact - shame presumably.

Delightful, friendly staff, exceptionally clean rooms, good food - perfect. From the minute we arrived we were impressed. Nothing was too much trouble. Very helpful and efficient. Nice family 'suite'. Breakfast and dinner - first class. I'd love to go back again - maybe even for a longer stay.

I stayed at this Hotel on 28th February with my fiancee and our 18 month old daughter. We stayed in the Swona. This hotel is spotless. I mean completly spotless. I even tried looking for dust and dirt and found nothing. The view from our window was amazing. We ate in the resturant in the evening. A very good menu with lots of choice. We had a fantastic meal. Breakfast was equally impressive.
I cannot reccomend this hotel enough. I will stay there again, and for longer than just 1 night next time.

We have just returned from Orkney and spent one night at this lovely friendly small hotel - should have been 2 but the ferry was cancelled. Staff were very helpful from us booking to leaving. Our room was lovely and clean with all that we needed. Dinner was lovely - we just ate from the bar menu which was very reasonably priced. Breakfast was very nice. Views from the rooms are lovely - would definitely go back and recommend to others.

Despite quite a large scale they managed to provide personal attention. A varied menu but the chef obviously enjoys cooking the local seafood which is certainly worth a try. Reasonably priced and good service.

We booked this lovely hotel for three nights and wished we could have stayed for longer. The room was spotless, well furnished and decorated, the bed was lovely and comfortable, so much so that we kept on oversleeping. We ate at the hotel every night of our stay and were very pleased with the food on offer. At breakfast the service was quick and food excellent. I'm sure I put on half a stone with the wonderful food on offer. We shall certainly stay here again the next time we visit Orkney.
