A fantastic place to end the day. A long weekend in Orkney for some sea kayaking ended up with a day's walking on Hoy. We were all hungry after walking out to the Old man of Hoy and the cafe staff provided us with a warm and cheery welcome. We were made to feel very at home. The setting is great with the hills of Hoy behind it and the view sweeping down into Scapa Flow. Just fantastic :)

After reading reviews we thought it would be worth timing our day to have lunch at Beneth'ill Cafe, we weren't disappointed!
We received a lovely welcome into the very clean and warm cafe.
We both had Hungarian beef stew which was delicious, highly recommended!

Our arrival was punctuated by a mishap with the car, so as we entered the cafe laughing, the girl serving us was laughing too. It's early in the season, so we were only the second guests of the day, but more arrived when we were there and I imagine that in mid-summer, it would be very busy, particularly as it is situated in a delightful part of the island.

My soup was far too peppery, but I had a hungry companion, so nothing went to waste. The cheese panini was delicious and the apple crumble had a generous proportion of apple to crumble. I would have happily fallen asleep in the sunny garden afterwards, but we had places to go.

Loved all the children's footwear on the fence posts, and on the other side, the giant teacups.

There is apparently only one shop on Hoy and not that many eateries, so this cafe must benefit from good business. However, it has clearly not rested on any laurels and has offers a light, airy and convivial location in which to enjoy a break from all that magnificent scenery.

I would definitely return - I didn't want to leave!

We came freezing cold, soaked by the rain and very hungry to the cafe, and were sent off because we have a small dog with us. Worst experience of our entire scotland trip.

What to do on Hoy on a rainy day, .. right, get somewhere inside, preferably for a coffee and perhaps some scones. Not quite easy as there is not much.
Fortunately we found this little Tearoom, well signposted so easy to find, friendly service and reasonably priced. Just what we needed.
Nice detail we've noticed was that a staff member called the bus driver to pick a group of people up, that's real customer service !
