Unplanned visit came on advice of the Community bus driver as the Scapa Museum is closed. Owner willingly provided delicious home made Sandwiches, soup and desserts - have bedrooms open all year round.

We were told to book ahead to ensure a table at this small hotel so called in to do so. We were warmly welcomed and explained specific dietary needs of Gluten Free. Options to meet this were given and agreed.
On coming for our lunch, staff were very helpful and accommodating for all three courses including a Gluten Free Yorkshire pudding and GF very good summer fruit pudding. All the food was well prepared and presented. The grass fed Orkney brisket was particulary tasty. The lemon posset with fresh raspberries, raspberry coulis and biscotti was excellent in flavour, presentation and textures.
Very impressed with lunch experience. Best to book ahead to ensure a table.

Warm welcome in all ways - weather and from Roz and Rachel. Thank you so much for a fab weekend in Hoy. Music night was great fun on Friday eve, all the food was fab and your service was great yesterday eve too despite having a large group in. Well done, hard to believe you have only been there four months - keep up the great work and hope you get to see the sea eagle! We were so lucky with the weather.

We recently stayed for a week in The Lodge, a large house in Longhope, the main settlement on Hoy/South Walls. It's owned and run by the proprietors of the Stromabank Hotel.

I can't recommend this highly enough. If you're looking for self catering for a larger group then this is the 'go to' place.

There are 6 double/twin bedrooms, every one immaculately clean, perfectly furnished (TV, hairdryer etc) and all with en suite facilities. We took the entire house.

Downstairs there is a large kitchen/dining room. The kitchen is fantastically well equipped and easily accommodated 12 of us to sit at the kitchen table and eat dinner together. There's also a washing machine, a dish washer which is a great convenience with such a large group and a fantastic large gas range with a double electric oven.

Also downstairs is a large sun room which again easily accommodated all 12 of us.

Upstairs there is a massive lounge, equipped with very comfortable settees/armchairs and a giant Smart TV if you fancy just Netflix and chill but only if you can take your eyes off the amazing views over Scapa Flow across to Mainland.

The location is perfect. One minute's walk will take you to the local hostelry, shop or harbour and a 15 minute drive takes you to the ferry to the mainland at Lyness.
