“A Cosy and Peaceful Retreat with a Warm Welcome”
Reviewed 9 September 2013

Have been to Old Hall three times now and each time gets better and better as we become more familiar. Sandra and Mark are welcoming and very helpful. There is always a nice 'welcome pack' on arrival, and they are more than happy to provide help in whatever shape or form. Cottage is very clean and comfortable with splendid views all around, set in lovely grounds with plenty of birdlife, and a 5min walk from the beautiful sheltered bay of Kirkhope where there is nearly always a seal or two to observe. Don't be put off by accounts of bad weather - even when there is, it doesn't last long! We always come home wanting to return almost immediately.

Absolutely beautiful, owners were wonderful, left us to our own devices yet were there with a smile if we needed them. Rooms spotlessly clean, and bathroom sparkling. Exactly what we needed. Wonderful hosts and a wonderful house. Thank you for a great time! We will be back!

Stayed here with husband and my elderly parents for one night bed and breakfast. Breakfast things are provided and you 'do it yourself'. This suited us really well as we could take things at a more leisurely pace. Homemade bread, yogurt, eggs, fruit, cheese, oatcakes, jam, juice, butter, tea and coffee all provided. Both bedrooms are a good size though the double with bunk above is better for younger more supple people (you can only get in one side). Bathroom big with good shower and excellent for anyone with a disability. Living room bright and warm (on a cold Orkney summer night). There is not a lot of space to cook and you need to do some shifting of things to set the table up. That would really be my only criticism. The place is newly done up and very comfortable. The owners are welcoming and helpful but give you plenty of space. And the views are great. I would definitely go back. There is plenty to do in the south end of the island so this is very good base.
