We wanted to stay somewhere near the Ness of Brodgar excavations, as I have been intrigued for years by Orkney's importance during the Neolithic. It was a perfect choice. Dogs loved it as much as we did. Perfect peace, and saw (probably) an Orkney shrew, and (definitely) a hen harrier. Heather has fitted the place out in some style with e.g. crockery and cutlery that puts ours to shame. We're booked already for a return trip. I hope the suspension on my car can take it once more though! (The access road is challenging.)
Comfortable and very well equiped cottage in a quiet rural setting. We found it ideally situated for exploring West Mainland with just a few minutes drive to the most popular landmarks. Dounby is only a couple of minutes drive away for local amenities including a small supermarket and fuel.
Couldn't have chosen anywhere better for our first trip to Orkney and will hope to stay here again on our next visit.
My sister and I just stayed at The Peedie House in April and had a wonderful time. The host Wendy was there to greet us and had left goodies such as milk, bread, butter and some biscuits. The cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and had all the home comforts you need for your stay. I would highly recommend staying here, a lovely cottage owned by lovely people.
