“Not to be missed!”
Reviewed 13 September 2013

This has got to be one of the best art galleries in Britain. Exhibitions are always interesting, extremely well presented and of excellent quality. And the staff are superb - knowledgeable, helpful, informative and friendly. What more could you want??

“Shame about downstairs...”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

but there are some surprising St Ives' School works upstairs e.g Ben Nicholson. The building is also excellent, very fine architecture. Could do with a wee up-market cafe to keep people in the building longer. Nothing I would want to buy in the shop. Lovely people on Reception desk.

“Amazing selection of modern art”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

The unexpectedly good collection of art and sculpture. Famous names only seen previously in Tate St Ives. No cafe facility but right in the town so eating places nearby. Town of Stromness also very pretty.

“Very enjoyable collection in Stromness”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

We mostly visited Orkney to see the ancient and natural sites and to eat but walking around Orkney we really just happened upon the Pier Arts Center. We enjoyed the small collection focused on Scottish artists, the temporary exhibitions and the fantastic building in which it is housed, a modern art space in a listed building.
