“Our holiday in orkney”
Reviewed 27 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Generally pleased with our accommodation except the bed was too soft and bouncy!
We loved the island and would recommend all the archaeological sites including the tomb of the Eagles and the stuff on Rousay. Good to go when the St Magnus music festival is on and when the Ness excavations are happening (which we missed). Bring binoculars for the wildlife!

“Bijou all mod cons in Stromness”
Reviewed 29 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

15 Church Street, is a delightful 2-bedroomed, all mod cons reconstructed semi that was once the home of a boat builder. It is situated very close to the Stromness Town hall and to the hotels where the Orkney Folk Festival takes place. Public parking is immediately outside in the street or in a park close by. No problem,, even during the festival. Andy, the owner, was very helpful, attentive and informative and lives close by. We had a grand time and would thoroughly recommend the property, its owner and picturesque Stromness for their hospitality. Orkney is a very special place; and they showed us the best of it.

“Amazing”

Just returned from a stay in this cottage with my daughter - we had the most traumatic sea crossing from Aberdeen and arrived much later than expected due to the tail end of a hurricane which meant our arrival was much delayed. Found the cottage with no problem and were welcomed with the most amazing restoration - underfloor heating, everything you could need for a holiday rental - and although the owner was away for a few days - the most wonderful of welcomes. This cottage is in a great position within the town and the owner is more than helpful - everything is there to ensure a fantastic stay - I could not recommend it highly enough - the whole area, and the people, are wonderful. Spent our few days walking or travelling to Hoy and cannot wait to return.

If you are heading to this part of the word do not go past this cottage - we have stayed in many - yes the restoration was painful but it is a labour of love and deserves to be visited

“Perfect small holiday flat, very well equipped and fitted out, in a charming little fairy tale town”

From the moment we asked about the property, Andy the owner could not have been more helpful.

The flat was an old yard/workshop (the original is on google maps street view and you can see how much has been done) and Andy has spent a great deal of time, money and thought into maximising the possibilities including underfloor heating, electric Velux windows, washing machine and dishwasher leaving you maximum time to see the islands but still have all the comforts (including wi-fi) when resting back in the flat at the end of the day.

The owner lives next door so any problems (we had none at all) could be resolved easily.

The finish and quality of materials and workmanship throughout is of the highest standard and we will definitely be back.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this property not to mention the town and islands as a whole.

Hidden gem!

“well-equipped, comfortable accommodation in the heart of Stromness”

This is a tastefully converted property just off the main street in Stromness. It's practical, clean and comfortable for a family of four but could accommodate 6 using a sofabed. The property is well-equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, remote controlled velux windows, tv and video. Within walking distance of the local bakery, butchers, greengrocers, not to mention hotels, restaurants, gift and book shops, this is a perfect base from which to explore Orkney.
