This hotel is not worth visiting while it is worn down, not very clean and the hospitality is poor. For example: the bathroom had only a bath without shower facilities. Then the electricity went down in the
Bathroom and part of the room. Nothing was done to fix it, no candle was brought, no apology and no refund or anything was offered. The only thing said was that an email could be send to the manager.

I wrote a review last year where a new management team had been put in and there was such high hopes, however I returned as I was visiting friends in the area and oh dear!!! the standard is poor, service reasonable, dress code gone, the lady that checked us in I can only presume is a new manager and not even a smile nothing even though I stated we had stayed before. What concerned me was the same lady helping herself at night time behind the bar!!! No work had been done so obviously the hotel is not considered as an investment. I am pretty sure thiswill shut down come end of season.

Me and my husband have visited Aberfeldy and stayed at this hotel every year for the past 10 years. We've had some good weekends and some not so good weekends, though have some affection for this hotel so have stayed loyal. Yes, the hotel is quite dated and in need of some TLC, but then it's not 5 star and doesn't pretend to be, and it's always been good value for money.

The hotel is now under new management who have started a refurbishment programme so, when booking this year we requested one of the refurbished rooms, however, when we got there there was a mix up and we ended up in one of the older rooms on the Friday night and transferred to one of the newer rooms the next day. This was a bit annoying, but what can you do? The manager was very apologetic and arranged for us to have a free drink in the bar while they sorted it out. I have to say we were impressed with the refurbished room, from the totally made over shower room to the new bed and matching linen, the improvements are very noticeable and make a big difference. Even the smaller things like having a duvet instead of the old covers they used to have, curtains that are clean and actually fit the windows, and complimentary toiletries. It's also good to see the hotel now has free wifi, though the signal can be tricky at times. Aberfeldy itself is a lovely place with plenty of nice cafés and walks to explore. It can get quite busy and noisy in the evening though as the hotel bar and local pub across the street seem to be very popular, so expect some disturbance if you have a room at the front of the hotel at the weekend. The hotel itself now closes the front door at 11pm, which cuts down on some of the disturbance from previous years.
We always stay on a DBB basis and the quality of the food has been variable as the chef has changed over the years. This year the food was ok, though I've seen it better in previous years. Apparently, they were having some difficulty getting a chef, with the manager having to step in to cover at times over the weekend.

Overall, it's clear that some effort is being made by the new owners to make some much needed improvements to the hotel. They have new staff on board who are friendly and welcoming, and have some skills in dealing with people, which makes a big difference.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the refurbished rooms.

Myself and my partner were apprehensive about walking into this hotel to ask for a room as we were turned away from 2others in the area. We are so glad we did, We received a very warm and personal welcome from the hotels waitress Tracey, who's service is also out of this world with a personal touch. Tracey then passed us over to her manager Mary who was also very friendly and ready to help us find a room to suit our needs. The hole weekend was great the only let down was the unfriendly and terrible bar service however that can be over looked as the food was great, service amazing and rooms spotless and comfortable. What it lacks in luxury it more than makes up for in personality and service. We highly recommend this hidden diamond.

We booked the Breadalbane Arms for a trip to visit family and it was very comfortable. Everything was clean and tidy, and the breakfasts set us up for the day. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, particularly Tracy.

However the rooms are quite small, and with a double this made for a right fit, and at the weekend the pub was obviously popular - so there was noise late into the evening.

For a quick visit I would definitely recommend.

Read mixed reviews about this hotel. Needn't have worried. Hotel was cosy & clean. Food was out of his world. Would recommend to anyone looking for a friendly comfortable place for a break. Tracy, our waitress, is an absolute asset.
