“superb B&B”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

I booked this at the last minute after seeing a good weather forecast for the weekend, and was very pleased I did.
It was chilly outside when we arrived but the house was warm and cosy. Claire was friendly and engaging.
The house is very traditional with solid wood staircase and fittings, the decor is modern with pleasant light tones making the large rooms light and airy. The bathroom was again large with a fab hot shower, and good quality toiletries.
Later my friend became stuck in his room when an older mortice locked failed, but this was dealt with quietly and promptly - its not often he has strange men climbing through his window!
Breakfast was plentiful with good choices, including vegetarian options. I can recommend the porridge, along with the scambled egg with smoked salmon, portions were more than plentiful and a good start for the day.
The price for the room was low, and this would be good value even with higher prices. I will definitely return.

Room Tip: Any! all of the ones I saw were super.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review and for your kind comments. Once again we are so sorry about your friend being locked in his room! I can honestly say that this is something that has never happened to us before and unfortunately was just one of those things that no one could have foreseen happening. We did manage to rectify the situation quickly I am glad to say!! Once again thank you for you feedback and we hope to welcome you back to Balnearn in the not too distant future.

I recently stayed with the friendly owners Claire and Mark whilst on a photography workshop based at the guest house.
The guest house was very warm and pleasant and well furnished with decent sized rooms. Everywhere was kept very clean. I had a single room with a comfortable bed and an en suite bathroom which was a good size having a bath with a good shower over.
The breakfasts were really good and certainly set us up for the day, there was a good choice but included home made porridge, full Scottish breakfast with haggis and black pudding if desired or lovely pancakes with maple syrup and crispy bacon rounded off with tea or a pot of filter coffee.
The guest house is well situated very near to the waterfalls and Birks of Aberfeldy.
I would definitely go back and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

Really impressed with this friendly B&B. Perfect if you're looking to find a stop on the Rob Roy route, and only a few minutes walk away from beautiful waterfalls. Think they have about 10 rooms, and they seemed pretty full, but staff always happy to please. Comfortable room and fab hot shower. Plenty of good eateries locally in town, west to Kenmore or east to Grandtully. It rained a fair bit, but Scotland looks beautiful whatever the weather!

This is a beautiful building, which sets the scene. Our room was large (although not all are) and hard to fault. Breakfast and general service were very good. A short walk to the main part of the town.

Part of me wants to give this place the worst review possible just to make sure it’s not full when I next want to book it but that would just not be in the spirit of TripAdvisor. Booked Balnearn because we were competing in the Colin McRae rally. We arrived quite late (after 20.30) but we were expected and the welcome from the owners was very warm. We stay is places all round the country and one of the biggest problems we have is paying for B&B but leaving too early on Saturday morning to get fed. Early breakfast, not a problem here. Two twin rooms booked (for 4 males) and they were excellent. I stay in hotels regularly for business and leisure and I think the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. One of the team was almost late because he spent so long in what he said was the best shower he had ever been in. I really can’t praise the service enough. Top marks all round.

Stayed for 1 night for the triathlon. Very accommodating for competitors and laid on early breakfast. Room was great. Quiet surroundings yet only minutes from the town. Rooms in the extension seem a bit more modern.

We stayed here on the recommendation of friends who had said it was the best B & B they'd ever stayed in. It really was lovely. We were warmly welcomed by Claire, and found that although both she and Mark were on hand for queries, we never felt like we were intruding in someone else's home.

Our room was really spacious and nicely decorated. The residents lounge was also a real bonus, giving somewhere to relax if not wishing to be out all day/evening. Breakfast was of very good quality - thoroughly enjoyed the freshly made porridge and the range of cooked options. Well worth a visit!
