Description: A wee gem of a place, cafe within the bookshop. Excellent coffees and wide range of specialist teas. Very tasty soups and sandwiches. Well worth a visit if only to browse the books and music.

“Quality food in interesting surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

We stopped at Aberfeldy on our way to Pitlochry. A local who engaged us in conversation recommended the Watermill. We were not disappointed. We were looking for a light lunch and the Watermill provides a range of high quality dishes. We had rustic rolls which are interesting and tasty in themselves. They come well filled with quality ingredients and there is an excellent range. There was a meaningful side salad with a nice dressing - not your usual token iceberg lettuce We were able to sit outside on a pleasant terrace. It does overlook a car-park but it is far enough away not to be a problem.
The restaurant has a bookshop attached and if you were eating inside it was conducive to taking your time as you pored over a book or newspaper.
The rolls were filling so we did not have room for baking but it looked lovely and, again, interesting and different.
On the whole the service was excellent with, in the main, enthusiastic and cheerful staff. There was one exception who could well do with realising that eye contact and a bit of a smile make a huge difference. Maybe she was having a bad day. The other serving staff were excellent.
You will not go wrong with a lunch at the Watermill on the basis of our experience.

“Really good!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014 via mobile

Fantastic coffee, cakes and soup. Could perhaps benefit from a couple more menu options for lunch (eg baked potatoes). The sweet potato and chorizo soup was fantastic.
And what a brilliant bookshop upstairs! (The bookshop would get 5 stars!).

“Relaxing & unique”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014

What a perfect way to spend an afternoon; browsing books and having afternoon tea in a lovely relaxing café. It was busy but I found a quiet spot to sit and take time sipping fragrant white tea and eating delicious homemade fruit cake. Worth the wait for a table to come free.

“Very nice place to spend leisure time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2014

Had a lunch here (party of 6pensioners) , price a bit on the high side but the service and fare was top quality and the atmosphere was very welcoming, after you eat spent time in the book shop with an excellent range to chose from. We will return but maybe not for lunch coffee and cake that looked super later in the year.

Can look through wonderful books and then enjoy delicious and unusual cakes. Warm log fire to cosy up to. Highlight of Aberfeldy.
