We stopped at Aberfeldy on our way to Pitlochry. A local who engaged us in conversation recommended the Watermill. We were not disappointed. We were looking for a light lunch and the Watermill provides a range of high quality dishes. We had rustic rolls which are interesting and tasty in themselves. They come well filled with quality ingredients and there is an excellent range. There was a meaningful side salad with a nice dressing - not your usual token iceberg lettuce We were able to sit outside on a pleasant terrace. It does overlook a car-park but it is far enough away not to be a problem.
The restaurant has a bookshop attached and if you were eating inside it was conducive to taking your time as you pored over a book or newspaper.
The rolls were filling so we did not have room for baking but it looked lovely and, again, interesting and different.
On the whole the service was excellent with, in the main, enthusiastic and cheerful staff. There was one exception who could well do with realising that eye contact and a bit of a smile make a huge difference. Maybe she was having a bad day. The other serving staff were excellent.
You will not go wrong with a lunch at the Watermill on the basis of our experience.
